heck i was in the states last month, it's no different than canada.
only thing i dislike about america is your guys money! jokes
i like our colored money, pretty dang easy to tell bills apart when their blue purple green red and brown.

i'd never not buy a car because "the americans had their hands in this!", because the truth is there are very few products made today that don't have a little help from another country. U.S. and Canda being huge trading partners, are bound to help eachother help.

i think someone must have been searching the dead threads.....

I hate to sound unamerican, but i would take anything made in canada anyday of the week. Im glad my car is being made there right now. If the US is so great all the time why is GM making their cars in Canada right now, or making parts overseas for that matter.

The US is great but US labor is expensive. Things may swing back once overseas workers realize what their work could be worth.

Ignorance is bliss as they say, being a proud former member of The United States Marine Corps, I fully appreciate the melting pot we all live in called the WORLD. Alot of time when I see people posting immature comments it makes me wonder where they have been. As a person who has traveled alot of this world in defence of Freedom, I can honestly say it does not matter where you are from. Imagine how boring this world would be if we all were they same, same house, same car, dog etc....it is the diversity that makes us great, you know 2 heads better than one etc...The only ONE that was perfect walked over 2000 years ago and I believe that no matter where you are from, everyone has something good to bring to the table. While it may take a few attempts to get it out there is still good in everyone. Being from the South and growing up in a time when segregation was in full force, I can honestly say we have nothing to complain about. After a recent trip to the Grand Canyon and visiting Native American ( Indians) tribes in Arizona I feel ashamed at how these people are treated, if you have never been go see it, and you will have a new perspective on who is who. I'll stop my rant and I understand that some threads just get started when people are bored, but please just be nice to people. You never know when they will be the people you need. I know that I have received alot of good information about this wonderful car from both my Canadian and American friends that I have met on this forum. One day we will all get to meet with our cars. Thanks Just my Opinion.

That is a cool diagram.

Partly wrong, which is odd. The prime/base coat is Seibert powder.. not BASF.

I don't even really want to comment to keep this thread open, but perhaps it is missed that Oshawa was the birthplace of a BIG part of GM, and has been involved right from the start of General Motors history.

The McLaughlin Motor Car Company began building cars in Oshawa with Buick engines in 1907 and GM Canada Limited was incorporated on GM's 10th anniversary.

I'm happy to buy a North American car, built here in Canada or the US. I currently drive an Impala built here in Oshawa and a G6 built in Michigan. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Cadillac is moving SRX production from the US to Mexico next year and SRX forum members are all in an up roar over it. I keep trying to calm them that it's still a Cadillac and made by a US company.

Old habits are hard to break. There's nothing wrong with a GM car made in Canada, the US or Mexico folks need to chill as many here have said. I find it almost insulting that folks think only Candian and American workers can build a quality car.

Canada has had an advantage for hte last couple of years (past decade+) for manufacturing:
- closer to alot of resources, less shipping costs
- lower canadian $ means lower employee costs
- canadian healthcare means less pension/union commitments by GM corporate
- southern ontario is the fastest growing region in north america, it receives 300,000 immigrants a year...always cheap labor available for subsidiary industries

Some of these advantages were things that Detroit / Michican / Carolinas just couldn't compete with. its not always fair, but at least the cars were being made as part of NAFTA, on this continent, by people participating in a 'local' economy.

As i've stated before, 2 of the 3 muscle cars are being made in Canada, i'm Canadian, and I bought a Ford Mustang. Wasn't an issue of national pride for me, i don't think it should be.

I think lean and mean Chrysler, GM, and Ford are more relevant now than they've been in decades... their cars and lineups compete favorably with imports of all types, and in many cases exceed them. A BMW 128i with similar HP and features would cost me $10k CAD more than my mustang...and would perform worse, as an example.

I am just on my way out to shovel my driveway. When I get back I will tell you guys what I think about this post.

BTW... how many on the board are fed up with the caribou this summer. The other night on the way over I had to wait 15 minutes for them to cross the intersection by my place. Now I got caribou shit all over my car.

Damn I hate caribou season. I am glad the ice packs are starting to melt in Toronto harbour. Those seals are loud at night
