Ive had 4 3rd gens and 1 2nd gen. the 5th gen is on a whole nother level of build and component quality compared to the earlier gens. My '84 was in the shop 17 times in 11 months, some things on my '87 never got fixed and i owned the car for 19 years.
yeah the 5th gen has a cheap interior but the QC is 100 percent better.

It probably wasn't as widespread as people on here tend to report.
Sorry, you are incorrect....timing chain issue is not always directly related to low oil....I have had my oil changed on time and check it regularly and yet my chain was replaced at 48K....history shows that the issue is the chain in the LLT engines independent of other factors.

Most everyone that I have seen reports no timing chain issues until after they had a low oil condition... That is what I was going by.

Good for GM. I have to believe it begins with design and engineering and ends with quality production. I love my Camaro!

For the love of Pete... I ride mine hard, all the time. I probably see triple digits on the speedo a couple of times per week. It gets over 120 miles of winding mountain highway, often through ice and snow, each week. It gets Southern California traffic... cities and stop and go traffic. It carries passengers, front seat and back, and groceries in the trunk. It goes to Vegas at speed when it's 115 degrees out there, and to Big Bear when it's 5 degrees. And the thing starts first time, every time, and hasn't given me a single thing to complain about, fix, or question it it's first 43,000 miles. That's a damn dependable ride there.

I agree 100%. I drive my car like I stole it every single time I'm behind the wheel. 20,000 miles and am just amazed at how well the car is engineered and designed.

I also feel the same way about my '07 Silverado 2500 HD. 90,000 miles, and not a SINGLE issue. Still on the original brake pads because the VGT and the Allison transmission work so well together! GM has been doing it right for a few years now.
