i think you would have gotten a lot further, had you compared the civic to a cruze. in which case, the cruze beats the civic, hands down. only thing the cruze is missing, on the LS model, is rear view assist. Which REALLY isn't needed in a small car.

i mean, the way you make it sound, all cars on all platforms, should have all the gadgets at no extra cost.

some companies put more time and research in better interior, which cost money. some put more time and research in a bigger, more fuel efficient motor, with performance. which also costs more money. And some companies pay good money for the styling of a car. All this plays into the cost of a car.

You really think Honda didn't sacrafice something, to put a connectivity package and rear camera? you think it's FREE?! good grief...

i mean, if it was really that simple, Honda should make a coupe that looks similar to a ferrari, put all their gadgets in them, and sell them for 20k....

No, but it is very useful on the Camaro. I didn't use the Cruze because I have never been in one, and would not be in the market. For a small car, chevy can't compare in quality to a Honda. Honda has its faults, including the lack of a sports car with the demise of the S2000. Modern technology should be a priority. Not an afterthought that is rejected. Full ipod funtionality is nearly universal..except with GM.
They should try leading, and not lagging behind, always trying to play catch up.
There are reasons they went BK, and not keeping up with the competition is one of them. If they put half the effort into making a complete product as they do in trying to pawn the Volt off....what could they do?

As far as the OP goes, I addressed his point and he chooses to ignore it. Fenwick is correct, OP has no idea what he's talking about.

Nothing is free. You pay whether it's included in the base price or as an option

Having both the pre-blue-tooth and rear camera Hondas, and the post versions, the posts sacrificed NOTHING. Better in every area.

just doing a quick search. looks like the fit and civic had no rear backup camera, until 2013. not even as an option. and honda is leading in rear backup camera's, compared to all auto manufaturers. So this really isn't a fair comparison, since you could say the same thing about honda vs any other auto maker...

and the LS has bluetooth and mp3 capability.....

Over 150 replies to this thread and nobody has called out the OP on the title? "Behind the 8 ball" doesn't mean what you think it means. I am disappointed Camaro5!

Your only seeing what the camaro doesnt have, and not anything at all that it does have.

ok so lets take out your 300+ horsepower v6, your 6 spd transmission and your independent rear suspension ( that by the way most cars dont have, not even mustangs) oh and gotta take away your rear disc brakes for rear drum brakes, and swap out your 18in wheels for honda's base model 15 in wheels, but its okay, you get a back up camera and ipod interface instead

We have a back-up camera standard on our '13 Terrain and I have to say, I actually have a harder time using it than just checking mirrors. It's practically useless to me.

Meanwhile, I have to back up 40 foot transit buses all the time that don't have rear view cameras. You rely solely on side rear view mirrors. Guess which one I find easier to back up.

If you need the camera to back up I don't want to be anywhere near you when you drive.
