Looking good!
What temperatures do those brakes see? At what point do you have to start worrying about things like dust seals melting? I ask because I noticed my brakes were smoking and my rotors were blue the other day after having a little fun in a local canyon. ![]() I'm running the CTS-V calipers with HPS pads and RBF 600. I plan on ducting some air to them soon... |

Temps and pads. That is something that goes hand in hand and you need to make sure your pad matches the temps you are running. The calipers themselves you would like to see remain under 300 degrees. Pad to rotor surface can well exceed 1200-1400 degrees. Remember seeing the rotors glowing red hot during the night races? The HPS pads you have there are a street pad and should be used as such. If your going to go dive bombing exit ramps and the country roads, you need a better pad than that. The blue color could be a glaze on the rotor due to to hot of a temp of the pad, could be a number of things. Brake fluid your doing fine with. As for dust boots...those melt first practice session out with the race cars and most track cars. |

Freaking Awesome!!
I come here everyday for just a few to relax and read a little. How in the HELL have I missed this thread??
![]() This is by far my favorite thread on C5 now!! I will be following it ![]() Very nice work and what fun it must be to be doing it. This could be a Mustang project and I would still follow it, but what a plus that it is a Camaro!! Thanks to all involved for sharing this project.. I have a severe case of wood

Over the next week or so we are going to be finishing up the car. From here on out the pictures may get a bit more vague as to the build details because this is a current year car so you can't show everything
![]() Testing should be taking place within a week and I will hope to get some start up video's for you guys as well as a quick trip around the block before she heads off to the track. Don't worry though, more pictures are coming! |

So you like the Cobalt Friction pads on the track. What do you recommend for the street?

For comparative purposes, a ready-to-race Camaro for Grand Am is $175,000 including all data systems, etc from Riley Technologies. I'd guess a build for WC would be $20k to $30k less, but that's just a guess.
