The color is actually ashen gray. This is a change for 2013. Instead of a black finish as standard, the insert is now painted ashen gray. The optional exposed carbon fiber hood insert (RPO: B92) is still available at an additional charge.

One advantage to the ashen gray painted insert is you can use wax on it like the exposed CF since it's clear coated like the rest of the car. The original black insert could have an irregular surface appearance if exposed to wax or other cleaning materials.

And no you are not stupid, I traded in my 2010 that I dearly loved and have never looked back.
I jacked the car up last night and didn't see them because that's what I thought also. I checked between the tire and wheel well after jacking it up and so nothing bright yellow.

As for the Ashen gray, I like the contrast to the black, that and I can wax it.

Thanks everyone for answering the questions.

Welcome to the club. Nothing wrong with the trade; but I would have removed the mods from the SS to sell separately and use towards a DD. Then again, having a ZL1 as a DD is pretty cool.

Congrats on the trade! I traded my 8 month old SS in on my ZL1, so I don't think you are stupid! You'll soon forget about the money you had in mods on your old car once you start modding the Z!

I agree with Blown355. It looks like the front spring spacers that are installed from the factory for shipping have not been removed yet. When removed the ZL1 sits much lower. At the stock ZL1 height, the front end can scrape going in and out of steep inclines. I personally would not go lower.

No, not stupid at all! Making me a little jealous. I had to order a V6 since I drive so much. My dealership has a black ZL1 in the showroom and I start drooling every time I go there. Have fun and look forward to more photos.

I would have except for I just got rid of all the stock parts a couple months ago after them sitting in my garage for two years. I wasn't planning on trading it in, but they gave me what I wanted for the trade in.

Ok, maybe I am missing something. When I jack the front of the car up I am looking for these spacers between the tire and the top of the wheel well in the spring correct? I don't see anything that completely stands out, but I could be wrong.

+1 on removing the mods for cash toward the gas saver.

Great looking ride! Congrats! Had you decided not to take the deal you'd be kicking yourself thinking what a dumb #ss I should of went for it. Every time you get behind the wheel, fire her up, and off you go, you should be thinking "I'm a frigging Genius". Traded my RJT M6 2011 SS for an AGM M6 2013. You don't have to jack her up to see the Spring Spacers, they visually stick out a mile away. Dealer should of left them in the glove box/trunk.

No - You bought a vehicle (ZL1) that you wanted.

They weren't in the glove back. Just jacked the front end up again to make sure I wasn't missing anything and they were not on either side.

The car had 18 miles on it when I drove it off the showroom floor. Removing the mods wasn't much of an option with the time frame that everything went down in. They did give me more than the standard trade in value for it though.
