Which would handle better? Modded SS vs 1LE vs ZL1

Assuming that they are all running on the same wheel and tire combination, which would handle better? A ZL1, an SS with the 1LE package or an SS with hotckis stage 3 race pack? (also, assume the 2 SS's have maggies and are making about the same power as the ZL1)

Have to agree with Blake. Go l coilovers and bushings and sways. Pfadt, or Pedders.

to answer your question the hotchkis modded ss comes in last i would bet
Really? I've read good things about it, but I guess not... I mean, you could add coilovers also, but would it actually handle worse than the 1LE package?

I can't speak about the ZL1, but I can about a Pfadt modded SS vs. a 1LE. The Pfadt SS will smoke the 1LE. How would I know? I talked to Pfadt last week about a part on my car and in conversion it was mentioned that they had just taken a 1LE to the track. The guy I was talking with had seen my car a few months earlier on a visit to the shop where I store my car. Basically said my mods would "smoke" a 1LE. Pretty much knew that already based on my challenges against Boss 302s.

This is not to say starting fresh I would choose an SS over a 1LE. I put a lot of money into my car, most of the suspension stuff before the 1lE was introduced. Since then I've upgraded sways to ZL spec, rear LCAs, 1LE axles, and hubs. About all that's left is gears. My wheels/tires still weight less that the 1LE.

If I bought a 1LE, I would still upgrade the suspension to coilovers and better bushings. The benefit would be all the other stuff that's part of the 1LE package.

A Pedderized SS will be every bit as good as a ZL1.

I watched a Hotchkis Track Pack equiped 2010 SS run the 4th fastest time on the road course at Run to the Coast against some of the best Pro Touring Cars/trucks & drivers in the country...that included beating Jordan from JDP Motorsports who came in 11th and a good 2 seconds slower...

Heres the link with the results...

1LE is a waste of money. Sways, bushings and coil-overs from Pedders or PFADT and you'll have a greater ability to make track adjustments and in the hands of a skilled drivers will beat a 1LE everytime.

The extra $3100 I paid for the 1LE is worth it simply because of the wheel upgrade. I could sell them for more than $3100 easily and still have a superior suspension.

I sold my wheels for more than the 1LE package so definitely worth it and getting the better suspension components and transmission was well worth it to me.

I have since added Pedder's Supercar Coilovers, their Busings for the Subframe and Radius, ZL1 sways, so I think I started with a better base than a SS, and now better than a stock 1LE, next up to address some HP to work on getting a little faster. :biggrin1:

If you didn't want to go coilovers, would the hotckis still be at the bottom of the field? Even with all it's chassis stiffening stuff?
