TVS2300 SLP/Maggy install - Just started install and question already

One of the first steps is to drain the coolent. I twisted the pet**** (petkok) just like instructed and nothing is coming out. I've removed the radiator cap too. Do I need to do more than a quarter turn of the pet****. It seems like it just stops there. I don't want to force it and break something. What am I doing wrong?

Wish I had a good answer for you. I didn't have a problem with mine, but I don't want to tell you something and have it break.

Maybe because you are having such an issue with this, the heater hoses will be a piece of cake. Keep at it though. The end result and smile will be worth it.

Does it pull out after the 1/4 turn? The instructions just say twist the valve? Why the heck is c5 blocking the word pet****?

If you have an oversize coolant drain pan I would just take the thermostat housing off and drain the coolant that way. That's what I did with my install, quick...a little messy but nothing some cleaner can't take care of. I also changed out the thermostat which which came with my kit. The coolant will only drain out to the level of the thermostat which is enough to change out the heater hoses also.

I might give this a try because I don't want to break something. I need to change out the stat anyway.

I never drained mine either, it's just a little messy doing it that way, also don't take the bolts out fully take them out but loose still holding the housing in place, then pull the t-stat neck and the coolant will trickle out. when the trickling stops then take the bolts out along with the housing. I left the clamp on the hose also, take the t-stat out and reverse procedure putting it back in.

Just for the sake of understand... that plug is supposed to do a 1/4 turn and pull out... right? It looks like I am going to go a different route because this thing is driving me crazy.

That's my understanding also, but to be honest I never looked at the plug...other GM cars that I have worked on that is the way it's done...just don't forget to close the pet-kok if you drain the coolant the other way

I didn't drain the radiator entirely, I jsut removed the hoses that needed to be removed and tilted the radiator until nomore coolant would come out. Won't hurt anything to not drain all of the coolant. Just make sure you add after your done with the install.
