yeah, every "new on the lot" car i have looked at in recent years has orange peel.

I was under the impression the only way NOT to have orange peel these days was to have it painted over

Seems like every Escalade or Yukon that pulls up next to me at a light has some pretty bad orange peel.

Water based low VOC paints don't flow as well. The cure is HOURS of wet sanding, but a production cars will not have sufficient film thickness. I'd go for the $5,000 repaint

its a production car not a custom car. all the new cars i have had have some of this. granted there might be few out there that are worse. But you cant compare a jag to a mass produced car like a camaro. Some people would be unhappy if they were hung with a new rope.

Wouldn't that suck to get your car and then not happy with the quality? I wonder if the place you bought from would do anything for you? I have to admit I'm pretty picky ..

I've seen worse on BMWs too and I expected it from the beginning. My black SS has some, but what really gets to me is how the fine scratches/spider-webbing are already showing up, despite using nothing but microfiber on it. :(

Mass produced has little to do with it. Ferrari's have some of the worst paint jobs I've ever seen, runs, orange, overspray.

The reflection looks blurry because of the orange peel. If it was a glass smooth finish, the reflection would be clear like a mirror.

another example....
orange peel (really bad I might add)

mirror finish

Bad Paint

This is a product of Canada, not known for their great cars, america has always been the leader in that area. these cars are painted, not dipped as they are in america. the dipping process completely covers the car and then is electrically charged to flaten the paint out. when we sent are cars out of the USA to be built, thank you NAFTA we get what we pay for, crappy paint jobs. Lets bring back the car building to America.
