That's just the way most people perceive it now for some reason. I still feel the Z28 needs to return to its roots. Maybe even a 5.5 liter V8 putting out 450 HP, in a basic bare bones body with suspension upgrades and minimal options. I still also say it needs to wait until the 6th gen Camaro comes out. There are already too many choices in the 5th gen.

With all the love for the LS7 I wonder if they could make a production line version instead of handmade like it is. I have to assume that much of the cost for an LS7 is the low production inherent with the process to build it. There is no reason they can't start making them in higher quantities and lower the cost.
Even better make an LT7... a direct injection 427. That would probably be a screamer. |

Not only that, but the LS7 internals are better for tracking as well. BTW in reality it was actually equal to a L78 in HP (not torque) and had more power than the other 2 396's. The 302 and 396’s are apples and oranges just like a 1/4 mile engine vs. a track engine build. |

makes you wonder, with a higher output hp like the ls7, in a camaro less than, or equal to the price of the base 2014 corvette...what's the point in getting the base corvette, besides the looks? lol

That was my point, maybe I said it wrong. The Z28 would probably be in the 50K range, give or take a couple grand. Putting the LT1 would not be able to get it there.

Corvette will be lighter, faster, handle better, and be more fuel efficient.

I must have forgotten those bad ass 03-09 Camaros lol Example ifyou got married in 2000, then got divorced in 2003 and got back together in 2008. Sure as hell wouldnt be celebrating your tenth anniversary in 2010 would you? thats just my thinking anyways. I know people will say its to celebrate how many years its been since the car came out, but that doesnt work for me. if it works for you more power to you. |

I just don't get why you think a Z28 needs to cost $50K. GM needs to make them MORE affordable not less affordable...they need to sell cars to the masses, not just make limited edition models..which if they use the LS7 it would be.

Didnt word that correctly. I know how a higher revving engine effects tracking. I meant to say its ironic how back in the 60s, a smaller, less powerful engine that could rev could create a better track car then a big block with more power, but now the only engine that fits that bill happens to be larger displacement, more rev friendly and happens to have more hp than the engine in the SS.

what about on the new platform? it may still be a little heavier than the vette, but the hp/tq could make up for it. only time will tell, i guess.
