any race u race is a drivers race, ive beat cars making 200+ more hp then me and weight less. does that mean my car is faster nope. ive raced 2 srt8 6.4 when i was bolt on i pulled both about 2 cars. one i had my ac on too.
just wish there were more srt 8 around they are nice cars. my dads buddy has a 6.1 chally. but he dont never drive it.

arab youtube videos unknown mods beats reputable testing authorities like mt c&d inside line edmunds all day! lol. how is this still a debate when the camaros ss-1le-zl1 track presence is dominating over bosses , gt500s and every dodge in the lineup? a 1le would lap a 6.1 at vir given 10-15 circuits. this thread makes my head hurt

I wish I could get to Irwindale, unfortunately I work nights so I have to miss all the fun.

I would love to cut a sub 2.0 60' but without practice, I'm sure I'd fair no better than the GT500 that couldn't shift. lol

You may want to check the California regional thread, it looks like the car you went up against was "plowxman".

MotorTrend: SS 13.1 sec @ 110.8 mph; SRT 13.3 sec @ 106.1 mph

Same track, same day, same driver, same conditions. 110.8-106.1 = 4.7mph difference.

Forgive me if I accept MotorTrend's results over your unsubstantiated YouTube videos. Same track, same day, same driver, same conditions. Sure you can put drivers of different skill in each car and get different results. We've seen V6's beat V8's. Does that mean the V6 is the faster car?

Wow. The Camaro fanboys whine again. Guy comes in to give a C5 member props for a good race, and the attacks ensue. Idiots.

Nice race, OP. I looked at the new Charger and Challenger before my Camaro purchase, and they are formidable machines. Nice choice of wheels.

Your comparing a CHALLENGER. I have a CHARGER. The 6.1 of the Challenger has run the slowest times of any of the LX 6.1 platform period. No stock 6.1 Challenger has broke low 13's, hell maybe not even 13.1 but its all mainly drivers. You can accept whatever the hell you want but at the end of the day you can think what you want and I will continue to prove what I'm talking about from the strip not behind a computer.

More proof to my point since you are so stuck on motor trend. Lets hear your excuses?

"It isn't light at 4212 pounds, but at just below 10 pounds per horsepower the SRT8 will bust through 60 mph in 4.7 seconds on its way to a 13.2-second quarter-mile at 109 mph." - Motortrend (your favorite source)

Like I said where is the 4mph advantage you speak of LOL
13.2@109

2008 Charger SRT8 Car and Driver

C/D TEST RESULTS:
Zero to 60 mph: 4.8 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 11.2 sec
Zero to 130 mph: 19.9 sec
Street start, 5–60 mph: 5.2 sec
Standing ¼-mile: 13.2 sec @ 109 mph
Top speed (redline limited): 173 mph
Braking, 70–0 mph: 168 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad: 0.90 g

Yep thats him, and the GT500 did farley well on all 3 of our runs for a bone stock vert. Plowxman has 2 go pros on his car also. You should try to come out there were at least 10+ 5th gens last week.

I'm not saying it's a bad/slow/weak car at all but I've never seen a standardized test where the 6.1L Challenger/Charger came out ahead of the Camaro in anything other than weight. The Camaro is simply a better package top to bottom and sales numbers have validated that since April 2009.

The new 392 is big step forward and the 8-speed ZF should prove a nice addition but the size/weight of that chassis will always hold it back.
All you are seeing only the peak advertised numbers and weight, you are ignoring things like gearing, power curves, and the times the Charger and 300 SRT8s have actually run which ARE on par with the LS3, like it or not and try to rationlize what you want and to ignore the facts. And what was said earlier was correct, looking at the Challenger it has run slower with the .1 than the Charger and 300 did, makes no sense, but it is what it is. Get over it. The reason for the Challengers lower sells has NOTHING to do with it being an inferior car, which it is not, it was designed and built for a much lower volume and has hit it's sales targets every year.

I think it's funny that that SS owner has less $ into his car than you do and it's just as fast.

BAD70SUPREME.....Anyone cares ? lol.... you keep coming back reading new post & making comments... slow barely modded cars...I guess your cammed LS3 that runs low 12's is fast??? I don't see any post claiming how " fast" they are. Just stats
12's & 11's are not as impressive as they once were

Here something for you to race in your "Fast car" let me know how it turns out
