Polar opposites here. Works hard vs. Hardly works "Never take anything you didn't earn!" As others have already said OP, try to choose something that you will enjoy everyday you go to work. If you're miserable at your job, no amount of money is worth it.

I disagree there is NO job on this planet I would actually enjoy.
the closest was the Navy but even that I still wanted my Leave times.

Now being a civilian I hate every single day.
there is no way I can see that anyone enjoys slaving away instead of doing what they want to do for themselves.

The whole I love my job thing must be for people that have nothing better to do.

workaholics annoy me.

Uh...ok. It would be nice to be able to sit on the couch all day and have somebody send you a $100,000 worth of checks in the mail, but it's not reality. Work hard and enjoy life, many do.

easiest way to get a job is to do a major in IT. If you are a good programmer, do something with development. If you aren't the best coder...go with something business analyst oriented. Those jobs are ALWAYS hiring and still growing.

We are forced to work if you want nice things.
but to fool yourself into believing you actually want to be there is another thing all together.
I bust my ass every day and hate every minute I'm there.
there are a trillion other things I'd rather be doing than getting up and going to an office building and sitting there thinking all day of places I woudl rather be.

I'm not lazy I put in 60 hour weeks+ sometimes as well as nights and weekends as needed.
But to fool yourself to think that you actually like doing it..

After working on F/A-18s for the US Navy every single job seems boring and nothing but a chore.

True, if you want nice things, you have to work for it. I don't get up everyday at 5:30am saying, "Yea, let's go to work!!!!". On the other hand, every time I walk down in the garage and pass my Camaro and my Harley while going to work, I see it's all worth it. As I said, it would be nice to collect $100k as a "Professional Couch Lounger" , but it's not reality. Sit at home watching TV and have nothing or bust my nuts and have everything? I choose the latter. Enjoy your car. Those Dusks are sharp!
