3.45 or 3.91's in my L99

I have a 2010 L99 i have headers cold air ported throttle body and jre tune. Been looking at gears just want some input. I have heard the 3.91's might be to much for a weekend car. No track time for me just crusing around having some fun. I have 21" pzeros if that matters. Dont know if they will help at all with tractikn. Also am i running a risk of hurting any other drive train with either gears.

Thanks.

If you want the biggest bang for your buck go with the 3.91's. For what the swap costs the 3.45 doesn't give that much more than the current 3.27. You'll love what the 3.91's feel like. You will have less traction than you do know but only if you hammer it. Regular driving you'll be fine. Same with the probability of breaking parts. Anything can happen but you really aren't increasing the chances all that much.

Do you need a tune if you swap gears?

$1000 bucks ish. if i was going to do it again i would order the gears from jannetty racing i think the 1le gears are $350 ( http://www.jreperformanceparts.com/2...-91-gears.html ) and ted will update the tune for free (a $315 value). i found a custom trans shop local that said if i remove the diff and bring it all to him he would install for 400 bucks. so for 750 you could have your gears installed and tuned. if i wanted the guy to do all the work he said it would be 700 for the install. just shop around i got qouted from 400 - 2500 haha the high end was the dealer

Why not 3.70's? Is that somewhere in the middle?

from previous experiences with my jeeps i didnt seem like 3:27 to 3:70 was enough of a difference to justify the cost for me. the 3:91's you will definately feel and notice. im not saying the 3:70's are no good im simply saying for me it was personal preference and i wanted all i could get while still being able to drive on the hwy

at the end of the day it all depends on what you are doing with the car. i daily drive mine and am not building it for a track. not to say i wont go to a dragstrip but the only reason people say not to put them in these cars is because in the 1/4 mile you could have one more shift. if that happens that happens. the 3:91's are a blast on the street and that is where i enjoy my car 99.995 of the time. so it was an easy decision for me. people also say 1st gear is to tall in the auto but i have no complaints and would do this mod all over again. i say go for it you wont be dissapointed

I just put the 3.45 in mine and can't tell a difference. I just did it to maybe pick a little up at the track.
