Anybody use ZL1 spring spacers on a lowered 2SS
Has anybody tried to install the ZL1 spring spacers on a lowered 2SS? Specifically, one with Pfadt lowering springs? I searched and didn't find anything and also checked with Pfadt but they didn't know.
The reason I ask is that I need a little more clearance to trailer my car when I have my track tires/wheels installed. Would really be nice to do the tire swap at home instead of at the track. Also, how hard are the spacers to install/remove? I'm guessing that you would need to jack up the front and turn the tires to the right and left.

I have changed rear coils on several ZL1s and never saw a spring spacer. Maybe you are thinking about the spring inserts that are used for shipping the ZL1?

I guess I should have been more clear. I would like to use the ZL1 spring inserts on the front when trailering. Just not sure if they would work with my Pfadt lowering springs.

The Pfadt front lowering coils use a couple of stacker coils at the top to keep the coils trapped when the car is lifted and the wheels hang at full droop. The rest of the coil wind is similar to OE. The only way you would know for sure is to test fit them.

Thought about using the spacers but wasn't willing to pay $40 if they don't fit.

The Xa coilovers are a straight barrel wind much more narrow than the OE coils. I doubt they would work.

Other option is to find some better ramps or add more to my stack of planks.

I put 26in tires on the front with lowered springs and the car was to low, I went to Advance Auto Parts and bought some Twist in spring boosters and they worked great, Easy to put in and remove.. Here's a link to Summit couldn't find them on advance site.. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mrg-1283 |

Those look like they would work and cheaper, too. Got them on order!

I plan to use them to only get on/off the trailer. Haven't tried them yet.

I really like the idea of the summit spring spacer.
However this may be food for thought...depending how you tie your car down if one of these comes out in transport how will that effect the tension on your straps. I always tie down from the factory shipping points takes a lot of slack to unhook but if the suspension were to settle the car could tug on a loose strap till it broke. If tied down over the tires then no problem. If you shoot me a photo of your trailer I might have a few thoughts to help you load easier. Better yet with the car part way on where it gets hung up. I sell trailers for a living so no problem like your goes unsolved. There are tons of great products out there just gotta know where to find them and how to impliment them. Mine has gotten so low now not even sure if my corvette tricks will get me into my trailer this summer. |

BTW - I have realized that my tip trailer is a really bad idea if the car is immobile. Shopping for a winch just in case. Already have a good tow hook.
