Decorative strut tower bolts

Try South Coast stainless. I used the polished stainless steel, look great. M8x1.25x35 with the polished washers, they sell them individually.

If it were me, I'd make sure the bolts were at least a grade 8 no matter what finish you go with, just to be on the safe side.

I am looking for some suggestions on options to get a nice looking set of of M8 x 1.25 x 30mm bolts. Anyone changed theirs out? Got any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Same for me with the flaking - I just use touch up paint once they are on there and tight

The factory bolts are not grade 8....that's for sure. They are torqued to a "mind boggling" 16ft/lbs. LOL!

if you don't mind the bling the 12 point stainless or allan fasteners will be the most durable.

there are no finishes that are as durable as just a stainless fastenrer when it comes to an time that you may remove again.

I always use stainless fasteners if I am buying new and keeping the car. they always will look as good as day one.

Understood, but for me it'd just be for peace of mind. If I'm going to buy some bolts for the car, especially a strut brace, why not place it safe and spend a few more cents to get grade 8.

Apparently the Lowes and Home Depots in my area do not carry M8 sizes. I just to both at lunch. I guess I will look online to find some of the options shown in this thread. Thanks for all the suggestions! Some of you have exactly the clean look that I am going for.

Agree on the grade / stainless comments.... at the end of the day it might be a few dollars more.

Not sure what size these are but you can't usually go wrong with:

http://www.mcmaster.com/

Search by size / length / material / etc.

I purchased the carbon fiber strut brase with painted ends from Roto Fab and am disapointed it didnt come with painted bolts. I went to the Chevrolet dealer and ordered a can of OEM paint. Still waiting for it to arrive but I hope I dont experience cracking like some here have.

I ordered this part# from them
92095A292

and received them today. They are an 18-8 SS button head cap screw (like Skylane's in post 5) M8x35. Just finished painting them black to go with my theme. I still have to pickup the brace from airbrush and will hopefully get it re-installed this weekend.

the fasteners being metric, SAE grade numbers do not apply.
SAE grades also do not apply to stainless steel fasteners.

18-8 SS is common alloy for SS fasteners, it falls between grade 5 and 8 in strength so you will be ok.

You're right, I forgot that metric bolts are graded differently.

The point I tried to make is to not use just any old bolts you find at Walmart that are made in China , spend a few extra cents and go for the high-grade bolts that you know won't twist in two with your bare hands.
