the guy was an idiot that was following the cop, right or wrong hes riding the cops but during the whole video. The guy taking the video was giving into just as much road rage as the cop.....
hes lucky all he did was what he did. And we have no idea what the guy in the truck did to start all this. Not to say what the cop did was right, just that the guy in the truck should of been glad the cop didn't have a POPO moment and haul him in for something just to be hauling him in. I would rate the drivers reaction as worse than the cops on the stupidity scale, he should of just slowed down and let the cop do his little fit till he went away, there was no win situation for the guy at all in that whole video. |

the cop was wrong.
the guy filming was wrong.. doesn't matter how fast/slow a cop is going, you don't pass them on the right and you don't go faster than them when they are cruising, just plain common sense.. you have no clue what is going on with the police radio chatter, or why he is disrupting traffic and it's none of your business. The guy in the truck probably would not have had any issue if he had not cut the officer off first.. cop is a complete idiot for giving in to the game, and lost his job over it.. Stupidity from both parties at it's finest.

and blowing your horn at a cop? when you start writing about how you got tazered by a cop for no reason we will know why....road rage or getting angry on the road has no place in driving, there is no excuse for it by anyone. If someone is doing something that isn't right, slow down and put space between you and them. Supposedly adults drive vehicles, act like one and control your anger. And doing anything to a cop no matter what hes doing is just plane stupid.....that is not a story that will end well...ever..... |

The odd thing is the cop was out of his jurisdiction as well. Not sure what his reasoning was but I think he could have shown a bit more courtesy to others on the road, I would expect that of anyone driving not that most people driving are courteous.

You don't poke the bear, and if you do you better be prepared for consequences, the guy passes on the right and having all 3 lanes open for him he decides to take the one the cop is driving on crossing over 2 lanes. Thats just asking for it. what if the cop was listining to a radio call or checking something on his computer, or checking on his dog.....
If you see a stupid thing common sense should kick in and you should not do a stupid thing yourself, plain and simple.

If he had his lights/sirens on, it may be a different story because that legally means "Outta my way!", but since he didn't he is to obey the traffic laws just like you and I. The idea of the horn isn't to be an insult; rather, it's a warning to ANYONE (including a cop) that they are being unsafe. If they were to give me some sort of ticket (they'll invent one), I wouldn't say a word to them except "Yes, Sir" and take it to court. Any judge would agree with me. and they have! And I didn't notice the speed limit.. you are right on that... nevertheless the cop was a jerk |

just because his lights are not on doesn't mean he isn't on a call or there isn't activity. insofar as obeying the law, the sign said 55mph, we can only presume that he was obeying the law and the idiot in the truck was not based on the little info there is.. the fact is the idiot in the truck started the whole thing, video taping, bitching about the cop driving to slow, and he figured, oh he is from another state so F-- him, he cut over passed on the right and cut back across into the path of the officer. so the road rage started there.. I am not defending the officer, he bought into the game hook, line, and sinker and as a result was rear ended AND resigned from his job.. -- both parties are idiots, so yeah guess it's best one less idiot with a badge on the road if this was his gut reaction behavior to someone passing him.. He should have pulled the guy over and radioed in to local authorities. Pretty sure his dash camera was probably running.

Was the cop potentially killing someone by his actions? no. he was being stupid but not dangerous. The guy riding his rear end was the one that potentially was going to hurt someone. Did the drivers actions escalate the situation and contribute to the situation becoming potentially life threatening? as pointed out the guy had all three lanes open yet he cut across two lanes to get back in front of the cop. That was stupid be it a cop or just another person. I will reiterate, road rage has no place anywhere, it doesn't matter what the cop was doing, the drivers actions after the start of the video shows him to be even more of an idiot than the cop. Now if the guy had pulled over to the open lane and slowed down to let the cop move on, and the cop had pulled over to get in front of him in that lane and slowed down, its time to call the police and have the local authorities straighten it out. but at no time should the driver of done any of what he did in reaction to the cop. People cant cause you to do stupid things or get angry, you have to decide to do those yourself, to allow that to happen to yourself. |

you do not get in the left lane simply because you are going fast, thats just stupid....hey cops look at me, Im in the "fast lane" so you can tell Im going fast. You pass on the left, and slower traffic is supposed to stay to the right. The "fast lane" is just what its called, there is no legal definition of that lane stating you have to go fast in it. With noone in front of him there was no reason for him to move to the left lane, in fact the very fact that noone was in front of him meant he should of stayed in the right lane in case someone going faster needed to pass. So legally he was wrong to get in the "fast lane" as well. |
