First thoughts... all my opinions with no factual basis of course...
. 1) Those who have the Z28 pegged at $60-65k plus need to get their heads examined. LSA vs LS7 crate motors for comparison are less than $1k apart. Take away all the amenities like HIDs, BA stereos, shit, A/C, carpeting, pass-through seating... and the Z28 should be less than a ZL1- considerably less- like $5-7k less. This car will come in at just above $50k; smack in the middle of a (SS)1LE and a ZL1. Again, my OPINION only. . 2) It will appeal, in the end, to only a limited amount of people because of its bare-bones nature. The majority of the people looking for "speed" are also going to look for "creature comforts". WHAT? NO BLUETOOTH? You may see ADM in the beginning but it will be very short lived. . 3) All that said, for the hard-core enthusiast, this car is a home run. It'll out-race and out-perform anything currently out there that isn't "exotic". There's a 40/60 shot that one will be in my garage but if it is, it'll be next to Waldo, not in lieu of him. I need my stereo, I need my bluetooth, I need my A/C (ok, I know it's optional), I love my HIDs, etc...etc...etc... I'm ecstatic that the Z28 is back but I'm apprehensive about it's market appeal stripped of amenities...

I am. I know I would kick myself if I got one and the the 6th gen comes out and I'll want that and so on. It's never ending. A classic will always be cool, in a few years this car will be yesterday's news. I do like it though!

Seriously? Go read post #1. It is more than just tires and a LS7.
The rear glass is thinner for lighter weight. It has helical gear limited slip. They didn't just remove the fog lights, they even removed the wiring harness to save weight. They took out the back seat pass thru to save something like 6 pounds. They engineered new back seats to pull all the weight out of them. CARBON CERAMIC BRAKE ROTORS like on the ZR1 and Ferrari Enzo! Fixed caliper front brakes. It goes on and on and on and on and on and on. This is a big time re engineering of this car to kick total ass. Go read. Its all there. |

Dayum now I'm confused. Is the 1Le a model or just a performance package for
the SS?

Now that GM has all these great parts that all fit on the same car, it would be fantastic if one could order a build from the list. I'd order the LS7 in my 2SS RS 1LE with the recaros please.

"available Spring of 2014." It also says "Only a limited number will be produced". Here goes the allocation BS again and ripoff mark-ups. Geno

Agree. These are the kinds of cars I live for. I hope the Boss and this more hardcore Z/28 start a wider trend. Never could afford the 911 trackday specials.

....I'm impressed with what Chevy did. They certainly did listen to our feedback, even the crazier feedback like removing stuff from the car. Wow, who woulda thunk A/C and radio delete <except for one speaker left for DIC chimes on radio delete> and the wiring for it removed from the harness to boot! Sweet! Recaro's, manually adjusted of course. And 300 lbs. lighter than the ZL1, nice! Austerity! Outstanding.. and manual only! Almost as pure a trackable street racer as there could be! WELL done Chevy, well done. Now, lets get those camera shots from the show to really see it up close and personal. Can't wait....I'm lovin' on it.
