Sneak Peak: Coming Soon From Adam's!

So a few weeks ago, Dylan PMs me telling me about this new tire coating they've been working on. Something with more staying power than SVRT. He asked me if I'd be willing to test it out and provide some feedback as they finish up testing. Um..hell yes? I think it's going to be called Black Out, at least that's what was written on the bottle I got.

Anyway, for the last couple weeks, I've been testing it out and providing some feedback to Dylan. Well guys, today I got the go-ahead to publish my thoughts and some pictures for y'all.

Let me just say, if you were thinking about ordering a refill of your favorite tire dressing- WAIT. This stuff is awesome, and could very well be the best I've ever used, dethroning Ultima Tire and Trim Guard Plus, which you guys know I have a major crush on Adam's will always be known for Americana and Detail Spray, but this stuff could very well be put into that top echelon of their product lineup.

Application 5/5: Spray a VERY small amount onto the first tire. Maybe 2-3 pumps and 2 on each subsequent tire since the applicator will already have some soaked in. Then spread it around with a tire applicator sponge. Black Out has a milk-like consistency, so it's very thin and this is a good thing for filling in and around lettering and contours on all types of tires. Obviously you want to make sure your tire is completely clean and dried. In this case I used Griot's Rubber Cleaner with a Tuff Shine brush to scrub the tires prior to application. I can't emphasize enough using this sparingly. When you think you have 1/2 as much as you need, stop.

Finish: 5/5 I'm not someone who likes a shiny tire. I like deep and black and clean looking. I've always loved the look of SVRT and UTTG+ and was a little concerned when Dylan told me this tends to be a little more glossy than SVRT. Let me tell you, those worries were unfounded. It does have a touch more gloss to it, but it's not a nasty silicone tire shine look at all. Very very nice sheen to it, even better than UTTG+. One note: when you first apply it, the tire will be extremely glossy and wet looking. This is normal. Let it sit a few hours and it'll dry to a very nice look.

Water/dirt Repellency 5/5 Fantastic. We've had some pretty awful weather here lately. Lots of rain, thunderstorms, tons of grime on the roads, and the car has been outside uncovered the entire time. The tires have never even looked dusty from the pollen or dirty from any of the puddles and mud.

Here's what my car looked like the other day when I finally hobbled out to wash it:

And the tires still looked like this:

Longevity 5/5 **Update 6/4/2013: This stuff is just now starting to fade a bit. I'll probably strip it and reapply soon. This stuff is AWESOME**

So far, so good. Those pictures above are after two weeks, hundreds of miles of DD activity and some pretty rotten conditions. There is absolutely no sign of wear on this so far. All I've done for maintenance is to just lightly wipe the tires with a rag and my leftover car soap/water mix. I even intentionally sprayed a bunch of Adam's Deep Wheel Cleaner on them to see if that would mess with it, but it didn't. Very impressive so far, but I'll be expecting a lot more than two weeks out of a tire coating, so we will see.

Scent 10/5 Dylan and I have been joking back and forth about how freaking good this stuff smells. It's the best product scent I've ever come across. It's banana pudding scented! I actually went and bought some after I finished applying it and Dylan told me it triggers his cravings too You can even see a fly up there in one of those pictures trying to get some banana pudding off the tires.

Anyway, I am honored to have been asked to be a part of this testing. It's an awesome product, and will replace UTTG+ for tires as long as it holds up a while longer. It goes on easier, smells way better, makes less of a mess, and looks better. The one drawback is that the Adam's guys don't recommend it for trim pieces, so it's not quite as versatile. I can deal with that.

I plan on doing a side by side test of UTTG+ and Black Out once I find out if this is the final revision. I want to give it a fair shot if they did any last minute tweaks before release.

If Adam's keeps up on this pace, I may just have to enlist

Damn, great write-up again!

I'm not one for having the tires look super shiny either. I think this "product" will suit my needs.

Any idea when can we expect availability?

Nice review. Hard to tell just how good it is from the pics but sounds great. I've got about half a bottle of SVRT left so I will put this on the list of potential products to try next.
I'm wondering if you didn't have a few hours to left it "dry" , "cure" or whatever it's doing, and you drove it while its still wet and glossy, would it grab a lot of dust and debris or sling off?
UTTG is a great product to compare it to, sub'd...

When compared to SVRT, does this give less of a shine?

Definite plus for those who like the natural rubber/tire look..

Thanks for taking the time to do the thorough test... I might have 1 more version to send you before we call it done. I came up with a small tweak to it and I think it might help with the dry time after application.

We're testing here and I'll forward a small sample to you if it turns out the way I think it will.

Now off to go get some banana pudding! LOL

You can't buy honesty and integrity and Matt defiantly has both. You can always count on a straight up answer from him.

Great review dude. Dylan, I can't wait till it goes on sale.

Wouldn't say it quite that way. This is for people who want something that lasts a lot longer than SVRT. This is a coating rather than a dressing. The difference in shine is a side effect, not necessarily the desired difference. Make sense?

Lol. Hey now, I've bought at least one of every single product they've ever made, except quick sealant. I just get too antsy to commit to one company. Probably also why I'm single :P
