Jason, do you plan on tinting the windows on the doors? (pretty sure its not legal to tint the front door windows so you may not want that) If not, then I would just go as dark as you can on the back three windows. Should have more than enough light entering through the windshield and front two windows to pass inspection....question do you have a sun roof?

For those that fill up at Road Rangers. I know they have 93 octane since I go there in the summer, but I can't remember if the 93 octane is ethanol blend. Anyone remember if it is or not?

Reason why I asked was for when I talk to Ted with JRE and getting the tune. Wasn't sure if it would make a difference if it was ethanol or not.

They quoted me for the rear window, quarter windows, and driver/passenger window. I know Iowa doesn't give an exact percentage (leaving it completely up to the discretion of the officer) so I was more trying to see what anyone has had in the past and if they had gotten any tickets for it. I am going to tint the windows stated above eventually, just getting a feeler out there.

Benning,
70% is the key number. I spoke with our local law enforcement and they said the same thing you did in an earlier post, "no sense giving someone a reason to pull you over." I will add - you already have a mean-ass looking car... that is reason enough. With that said, I plan to have my windows tinted this spring. I found a company in Des Moines that quoted $150 for sides and rear. I told them to tint to the level that Iowa Law allows.

Here is what the Iowa Administrative Code states,

321.438 Windshields and windows

1. A person shall not drive a motor vehicle equipped with a windshield, side-wings, or side or rear windows which do not permit clear vision.2. A person shall not operate on the highway a motor vehicle equipped with a front windshield, a side window to the immediate right or left of the driver, or a side-wing forward of and to the left or right of the driver which is excessively dark or reflective so that it is difficult for a person outside the motor vehicle to see into the motor vehicle through the windshield, window, or sidewing. The department shall adopt rules establishing a minimum measurable standard of transparency which shall apply to violations of this subsection.3. Every motor vehicle except a motorcycle, or a vehicle included in the provisions of section 321.383 or section 321.115 shall be equipped with a windshield in accordance with section

Under Iowa Administrative Code 761-450.1(321) safety glazing materials or multiple glazed assemblies thereof intended for use at levels requisite for driving visibility in the motor vehicle shall show regular (parallel) luminous transmittance of not less than 70 percent of the light at normal incidence, both before and after irradiation.

BenningJ: I ran tinted windows on my 95 Roadmaster Wagon and the police around here did not 'appreciate' the fact that the fronts were tinted. I would not recommend going too dark on the doors.

Last night I visited the Camaro...fired it up and brought it up to temp in the garage...felt so good to just blip the throttle (when warm) and hear the supercharger 'chirp' at me and to hear that bark from the exhaust again. I am ready for the heavy rains to get rid of the sand now...want to drive my baby.

I've gotten tickets for both my durango and my camaro. Durango was at 35% and the camaro was at 50% Tickets aren't cheap either.

You got it right Tim. They are basically your posting "rank." The people with the most posts have the higher badges and vice versa. As you can see Scott is a post monger so he has a lot of badges.

Lol, I didn't even think to move it out of the way to take the pic but basically when I travel I'm loaded.

Tire rotation wrong!

When I picked up my car the other day, the tech pointed out to me that my tires are installed backwards (directional rotation). You would think a Chevy mechanic that swapped out my rotors and pads would know how to put the tires back on the car the correct way! We haven't had the weather to drive the car so I haven't driven it all, except to get the clear bra installed the other day. I'm sure I would of caught this when detailing the wheels. I have an appointment tomorrow to get the tires swapped around. The weather is going to be really nice for a change!

Lol, I wouldn't say we WANT to be legal; we HAVE to be legal. My guess is that you are not legal. You have already been called before (second hand) about your headlights being a different color by a CF cop.
