New ZL1 owner!

I was hoping for cool LED tail lights and a bump over 600 horsepower. The refresh left me disappointed! Now what to do? I decided that I loved the black wheels after seeing them on the white car, but I always love red sports cars. Then I got completely crazy and decided I wanted to check out the new GT500. Drove it and I liked it a lot. Now what to do?! After much agonizing, I realized my favorite thing on the Shelby was the tail lights and the power, but everything else was better on the ZL1 IMO. Also, price was a big factor. The Shelby I wanted was $10,000 more than the ZL1 I wanted to order with the options I wanted. Decision made. Found a VR 2013 ZL1 with black wheels locally and picked her up the next day. Love the car and it was worth all the back and forth decisions!

2013 Victory Red ZL1 picked up 4/2/13. M6, NAV, ECF, suede package, black wheels. 221 miles of perma-grin so far! This break-in period feels like forever!

Options I wanted and have on order, ZL1 front mats, indoor cover, subwoofer.

Sorry for rambling, I'm just really excited! Also, this forum rocks! Learned a TON about the car before I even drove one!

Your story sounds a whole lot like mine, pretty much at the same time too! Last year I had made the decision that I was going to buy a ZL1. I was waiting for winter to be over and a large settlement check to come in. The check came in at the beginning of February and I started looking pretty hard for a car. I sort of tossed and turned over what car to get even though I had made the final decision last year to get a ZL1. Originally I was set on Crystal Red Metallic with silver wheels. Late last year I had test driven a black w/ black wheel ZL1 and immediately fell in love. Well, even though I had seemed to have made up my mind last year I still tossed around the idea of a bunch of other cars. Including BMW 5 series, M5 (used), and maybe even an older Ferrari. I'm talking mid 90s. Anyway, spring started to come and the big announcement of the refresh was all over the place. So I thought maybe I'd wait to see what the hubbub was all about and order a 2014 refreshed ZL1. Once I saw the refresh I immediately got online and started calling the local dealers to get a 2013. Not impressed at all. The ONLY thing I'm envious about with the 2014's is the color HUD. Not worth that horrible rear end and removal of the time-honored four-tail light set-up. So after talking to dealers locally no one could find one or wanted to look for me. So I got online and checked Auto Trader. There were TWO in the United States with exactly what I wanted. Suede interior option, Sunroof, exposed hood, black w/ black wheels, automatic. One was in Texas (about 2500 miles away) and one was in Wisconsin (about 200 miles away). I talked to the dealership in Texas and they had a huge mark-up on the price. Over MSRP. So when the dealer in Wisconsin called they gave me a price under MSRP so long as I picked it up before 31 March. The next day I drove up there, picked it up and brought her home. So happy!

Awesome ZL1. Welcome to the family. Pretty much everyone on this site had some agony when selecting their ZL1 (availability, price, color, options, etc). Also, pretty much everyone is in love with the car once it was delivered.
