Solo Axle Back with Solo High Flow Cats?

I recently installed the Solo Axle back (with J Pipes) on my L99 Vert.

Although I love the sound, I do find myself wishing it was a little bit louder especially inside the car. (I still havent heard it from outside the car while someone else is driving it)

Thoughts on how the sound would change if I added High Flow cats but left that huge stock resonator in place? Would the stock resonator keep the raspiness down?

My other option would be leaving the cats and replacing the stock resonator with the Magnaflow resonated X pipe.

Been trying to find sound clips of someone who has the the axle backs with just the high flow cats but didnt find anything.

My situation is a little different -- I have an L99 with Kooks headers and high flow cats (and AFM tuned out) with SLP Loudmouth II axle back. I left the "big resonator" in place and had the perfect sound for me. No drone, very comfortable at highway speed.

Then the resonator developed a rattle (interior baffle loose), and I replaced it with a straight x-pipe. Now the sound is still good (a little louder) except at 1900-2000 rpm at highway speed -- now there is some drone! It may be acceptable but definitely not as good as when the big resonator was on.

The resonator is a straight-through design. You can look straight through it through either hole, and I'm told it does not restrict exhaust flow. (I wonder if the Magnaflow resonated x-pipe would have been a better choice than my x-pipe???)

My Advice: Regardless of what axle back or header system you have on an L99, leave the big resonator in place.

If you're looking for extra volume I wouldn't replace the stock resonator with a resonated X-pipe. That is kind of a lateral move. Going with a standard X-pipe and cutting out factory resonators would add some volume but the high flow cats are a better option. They are clearly more cash but you get the extra volume and some power too.

With his Solo axleback he shouldn't have to worry about drone to much. On you're set up the resonated X-pipe would make sense.

I recently installed my Corsa catback (L99 version with a resonator). I love the sound but wanted just a bit more, nothing crazy like some like. Anyway I have a set of Solo HF cats in route, will be here Monday and installed sometime next week. I'll see how that sounds, if I need more I'll delete the Cora resonator, although I think with the Cats I'll be very happy.

I'll keep you posted on the difference.
