A front plate is NOT an inspection item in Tx. It is part of the motor vehicle code, two different things.
A dealer is not required by 'law' to instal a front bracket before you take possession.

Ct is a 2 plate state but it's not enforced.
These Camaros look so much better sans the front license plate:

My dealer told me that they do not mount them on Vettes or Camaros til they're sold and the customer wants them. I also told them no.

I live in MD and the front plate is required here as well. Dealer knew I wasn't going to want the bumper drilled and verified as such with me on three different occasions. I went with the eliminator bracket & I love it. super easy to remove for cleaning or at shows, securely attached so no risk of losing it while driving.

Same here, two Camaro's in the past 1 1/2 years and just picked up a VW Jetta from Boardwalk McKinney and they did not require it.

Another thing is that you dont even have your LPs in TX at the time of delivery so the excuse that they wont let you off the lot without the bracket installed is BS.

I live in NY, have had my camaro since 2009 and have never put a front plat on it...and never will.

I just carry the front plate up front with me and if i get pulled over i have it handy...but i have been pulled over and have never heard anything about not having a front plate...but i was told 100 in a 65 is a no no.

wow..I had no idea my post would elicit so many responses!
Ideally I would like to drive with no plate on front, I was just trying to see if the dealer would not drill my bumper if I asked or if I had an alternatine means.(or even if they give a crud) like I said, I asked a dealer not to drill my 06 GTO and he said he could not let it off the lot without. Now I am trying to get my ducks in a row and be prepared for when my Camaro arrives. maybe this dealer will work with me on this. I can't really go elsewhere because of my particular package combination. Chevrolet.com said there are only 9 in America with my 4 criteria and they all had a bunch of junk on them that I don't want on my car and don't wanna pay for. That is why I ordered mine. I guess I'll just ask the dealer a little before my car arrives and see what he says.
Thanks for all the good replies so far!!

I'm a cop. My car was delivered from Classic Chevy in Grapevine w/o the bracket. I had to request one. Of course I did get the Ground Effect package. If you don't want don't get it just don't cry if DPS or some other agency gets you. Oh yea I've never written a front LP ticket in 31 years of LE.

I insisted that the front bracket not be installed-when car came in,I gave the dealer my Heritage grill and skip shift thingy-they did this for me that afternoon--picked car up next morning-they handed me bracket and bag of bolts.

Move to Michigan, that's what I'm working on. I'm done with front plate laws and especially annual safety inspections. Friggin' nanny state.

OP--We bought ours from Reliable in Richardson. Bracket and bolts were in the trunk. I've mounted with zip-ties to keep wife from being pulled over and harassed; it's her car and I only drive it on Fridays.

I will never buy from them again and was happy to tell Chevrolet that. I even named my sales guy and called him out.

Isn't it maddening that when you specifically tell them not to do something, they get it in their heads that you want the opposite? It's like an unholy ability to screw up on demand, but most often with the things you go out of your way to tell them about. It's infuriating. It means, obviously, that they don't actually give a shit.

I don't need a front plate, I've got an old "Green" MA plate, rear only. They tried hard to make it so that I had to get new plates front and back, but my old plate is still 100% legible at their measured distance so that was that, but they made a big deal..."oh, we have to check, that plate might not be able to be read, we'll have to have our guy inspect it and see if it's legal. Expect to have to get new plates". I said "Expect to give me my trade-in and my ten grand cash back".

OP I also had ordered my car. I live here in Maryland and we require to plates too. When i ordered the car I specifically told the salesperson I do not want the front license plate installed. There is no reason why they should not do the same for you. Good luck and congrats on the new wheels

My dealer install plate holders on all their cars. I told my dealer I dont want front license plate holder drilled on the bumper. Either that or no deal. They got a new bumper and replaced the original.
