Dealer Installed Exhaust

Hi all, just bought a GMPP axle back from another member here and wondered if anyone had an exhaust installed by their dealer. What did they charge?? Wasn't sure if I would be better off to go to a dealer vs an exhaust shop. Not many 'good looking' exhaust shops around where I am, least not to my knowledge.

Any decent exhaust shop could do that in about 1 hour, there really is not much to it. If you are welding it id say $75-100, clamped should be around $50.

A dealer would most likely charge around double that.

You can do it in your garage, on jackstands. The hardest part is lining up the tips.

I would but live in an apartment with no jackstands and a community rule that your not allowed to do "heavy work" on vehicles. I'm sure that does not fall under heavy work but I don't have the tools to cut the stock mufflers off.

Then you are most definitely out of luck there as the stock exhaust is mucho "heavy".

Anyhow, would be pretty hard for any exhaust shop to screw up an axle back install. Dealer = more money lost.

I just had my Corsa Catback installed by the dealer, 100 bucks. That was a full hundred dollars less than any performance shops were going to charge me. I left the stock exhaust with them too since I have no room for it, and there isnt much of a market for them.

That is a great price, my dealer wanted $120, so I did it myself on ramps. Believe it or not its easier to do a cat back, then an axle back

Figure I'll call around...Monroe Muffler around here has a deal going of like $15 off any service over $50 bucks.

Well....dealer made my decision easier....said they don't install aftermarket parts. I asked even if it was a GM part, replied no. Interesting, anyone ever heard of them not installing a GM part?
