Thinking of Upgrading from SS

Hey everyone. I have a 2010 Camaro SS and have been thinking of getting a 2013 ZL1. I'm in the Bay Area, Ca and wanted to know if anyone knows which dealers will let you actually test drive them? I went to one place and he said I had to make an appointment which I don't mind doing, but I'm wondering if it's gonna be a real "short" drive. I'd like to at least feel it on the freeway for a mile or 2. Also is it normal that i'd have to get "approved" for credit before being able to test drive?

Thats what I was told when i inquired about the SS when it first came out, dealer wanted me to put money down before bringing it out for me to look at it, i would call around because every dealer might have a different "policy"

Best of luck in your search!

I would def. upgrade to the ZL1. Although I have not owned an SS but I did test drive one. The differance in the HP and handling between the ZL1 and SS was amazing. As for the dealer I would ask those questions whan you sched. your appt.

Use the GM Car finder and locate a dealer within your acceptable driving distance.

http://www.chevrolet.com/cars/2013-c...-zipcode=94901

A dealer that's had one on the lot for a while is a lot more amendable to allowing a test drive; especially if you show serious interest by laying the groundwork (calls, internet).

I found one exactly as I wanted (using the above link), called and haggled, made an appointment and showed up on a Saturday Morning (check in hand) haggled some more, test drove, mulled it over for a little while more, then walked away (poor sales lady was in tears - I was her second 'no sale' that morning).
Wrestled with the decision Saturday Night and finally decided '(Hell) YES!'
Called Sunday morning to see if the car was still there (it was), made the 60 mile trip again, traded in my '10 2SS and drove home with a ZL1.
Been Happy (not Doc or Grumpy or...) since.

(It was a '13, but I got it end of Oct. 2012)

Hello STARSKI,

We are excited that you are interested in test driving a 2013 ZL1. That is a really nice vehicle and we are sure you will enjoy the experience. I would like to offer my assistance to you. I can locate a dealership nearest you for a test drive and make the appointment for you. I would need your full name, number and zip code which you can private message me. Let me know, here to help.

Do it. Just upgraded on friday. Awesome. Find a dealer with a leftover 2012 or a used 2012. Then they won't be so uptight about a test drive.

I went from a 2010 SS2 to a 2013 ZL1. I promiss you could buy it without even a test drive. If you love your SS the ZL1 is an upgrade in every way. It is faster, way faster. The handling does not compare, the ZL1 sticks like you would not believe. If you can swing the price you will not be disappointed!

Show the guy your camaro and say you want to give him an extra 30g's. I think you will be fine with an appointment.
