If you don't want an aftermarket oil drain plug you can always go "old school". Back in the day we would just get a really powerful magnet and stick it on the bottom of the pan near the plug. Before draining you pull off the magnet and the rushing flow/drainage of the hot/warm oil sweeps out all the particles. I purchased one from Dimple (www.drainplugmagnets.com). But there are a ton of aftermarket ones. Dimple seems to be the high end of the scale, very powerful, so they advertise.

As long as it sticks to our aluminum oil pans it should work great

Yeah, I did say "old school". That was then and like I said I ordered mine from Dimple. Can't tell ya how well it works since I haven't done my second oil change yet. Times have changed. Watched a country boy on you tube make a catch can for his pickup using an old pickle jar. LOL, to each their own!

I ended up getting my magnetic plug from a local auto parts store. A little over $4 plus tax. That'll work for me.

Watch this vid, I also agree with DIMPLE drain plug for 34 $ its a good buy and you know its going to work. Its built tuff so threads dont fall apart and the end of the magnet dosnt break off and go flying around inside.I would say stay high end even if its just an oil plug. Hope this vid helps .

jbotta. Top Notch. Excellent video demonstration of the power of the Dimple Magnetic Drain Plug. I thought it was expensive when I first ordered mine, but after seeing this video, WOW. I definitely got my money's worth. Looking forward to the next oil change to see what if anything it collected.
