Picking up the new whip

I'm currently stationed in Northern California.. But originally from the Midwest. Instead of buying a car here in Cali and be subject to all of California emissions,taxes,etc... I ordered my car from my home of record Oklahoma, so I wouldn't be subject to the California Laws... You get the point... My question is... I'm having to drive it back cross-country... With it being new and all how should I technically break it in and seal everything up properly. Since I won't actually be able to do an oil change every 500mi and etc...

Just drive it home, you will be fine. I live in Oregon but bought my car in Denver, CO. Drove it about 2200 back home, through windstorm on I-70 and a lot of rain. Found out my ragtop didn't leak! When I got home, changed the oil and the oil was very clean and the car has been great ever since, still has all 8qts I put in last May when I bought it. About ready to change again, has 6330 miles on it.

Good luck, enjoy the ride!

Vary speed and engine RPM if you want to feel better about it. Long periods of time at the same speed and RPM isn't recommended at first.

But, if it was mine, I'd be making that thing work right out of the parking lot upon pickup. That's how I treated mine, now at over 18K miles, zero oil burn, zero problems.
