3.91 1LE gears?

Hey all. I have been contemplating changing out my factory gears. I have an M6 and have been flip flopping between the 3.91 1LE gears or the Richmond 3.73 set up. Surprisingly enough, the GM performace ones for the 1LE are half the price of the 3.73s. I have this one concern though. I drive Barossa full time. All year round.

I want the get up and go, and really, while I prefer the nice fuel economy it's not a HUGE priority. I figure as long as I don't drive like a jerk all the time, it won't be that bad. Any suggestions or advice from people who have made the change, or know people who have?

as far as the 3.91 the only pit fall is that first would be useless and you would need a tune to calibrate the odometer. other than that i found no problem with the 3.91 being in the v6 manual hopefully i will have mine installed soon right now there collecting dust in the garage.

ok so educate me here guys. When changing out the gears to the 1LE or any other type of gears, is anything else required to make the install work?

You need the gears, an install kit, and a professional that knows what they are doing.

Ring and Pinion Gear Installation Kit they make a full and a half kit wear would determine which one you need.

The half kit is a budget option you can go with if you have low miles on your car. If it is my car though, I am going with a full install kit though. If I am putting new gears in there I want all new part.

My fiance is a certified GM technician and I work at a dealer so luckily I have no issues with that part. How short would 1st be? That could be a concern for winter driving. I could always start in 2nd like I do in deep snow....

The V6 Camaros come with 3.27s and run 2000 RPM at 70 MPH. Swapping to 3.55s provides an equivalent torque gain of approximately 10% or 27.3 ld.-ft. of torque at the rear wheels and will raise 70 MPH cruising RPM to 2167. My v6 actually does 2000rpm at 75mph

I spoke with you about 3.91's earlier year and now have them, BUT the guy that was to calibrate and tune my car is having a problem finding a program that will calibrate my 2011 manual. Auto yes. ?? You may want to check yours.
