These cam threads will net you thousands of different answers and basically get you nowhere. You have to do the research on your own and figure out what you want out of it. Do you want peak HP (dyno queen)? Do you want super midrange TQ (street terrorizer)? Do you want stock drivability without the ability to detect a cam has been installed (LS9)? All 3 answers will net you a different camsahft profile. Seeing as you are in TX, my personal fav person is Pat G. I have seen over 700RWHP/TQ( mustang Dyno) automatic cars running stock TQ converter with zero surge/drivability isuues.

the stage 1/2/3 cams and cams with names instead of specs are for some people....just not for me. I'm sure I will get flamed again for posting this again, but these are my opinions.

LPE is also using a revised grind GT9 cam with a shorter lobe separation. 115 as opposed to 121. I had it installed in my car, I can take a picture of the cam profile card and post it if anyone is interested.

When I get to this mod, I plan to use the LS9 cam myself.

That is the cam, I have an M6. I have CAI, pulleys, ported snout, long tubes, also did the dual valve spring with titanium retainers. Car is tuned for 91 octane. Name: image.jpg

thats good numbers for 91 octane. will the cnc ported heads make much more than that? for 5000 dollars i do not think it is worth it.

Another car with similar mods pulled 660 Rwhp with the heads and more aggressive cam ( TS29 ) same shop. Tuner said TS29 is not as street friendly, not worth the extra money for the heads to me unless I'm getting a larger blower. Which I'm not. I'm pretty much out of money for mods. This year anyways!!

Listen to the 3 cam idles below:

1. LS9 cam
2. Hennessey ZL1 cam (unknown specs)
3. Mild aftermarket cam (unknown brand or specs)

Which one sounds best to you ?

I want one in between LS9 (too mild) and the Hennessey (too radical)

this is all i have to add to the conversation... Most of the grinds most "tooners" come up with are not going to optimal for the zl1... The tvs 1900 blower is a very capable supercharger, but is very sensitive to camshaft overlap, but it still likes lobe duration ... some of the grinds myself and my much smarter then i colleagues have come up with, look really weird on paper but imparative for making big power with the tvs1900, without turning the blower into a massive heat pump....
here is the latest ZL1 project we finished up:

Those are great numbers, but the blower is spinning way to fast for my liking. According to LPE chart it's doing 24,300 rpm @6600rpm

That is merely giving you an example of a common pulley setup that is seen. Although you feel it's being over spun how long do you actually sit at 6600+ rpm? In addition this setup has been perform by myself and numerous other shops on zl1's and v's without issue. You can also run a pulley arrangement you want to, the beauty of the ati/lingenfelter crank dampner , many pulley size options ...
