Thinking about Hotchkis hood pin

I think it would make my car look more aggressive. What do you think?

i hear if you add hood pins AND rally stripes you gain 50 rwhp

but seriously i think they look nice if you like it go for it. doesn't make it look more aggressive, just different

I am not a fan. It is your car, but I offer my opinion.

Last time I seen hood pins, it was on a toyota paseo, and they reminded me of nipples

Had them on my 340 Plymouth Duster back in 1970. Outgrew them in 1971. Your car, your call. Not for me. Sorry!!

Often wondered, what was the main reason for these hood pins, any advantage?

Hood pins were common on true muscle cars in the late 60's and early 70's. And they were there for a purpose, not just cosmetics. Long before anyone had ever dreamed of a ricer.

Like it or not, the thought of drilling holes in the hood causes anxiety.

It keeps the hood from opening when racing..basically a safety feature. Many race cars did not have hood hinges or latches, hood pins was the only way to keep the hood on. No hood also allows easier access to the engine.
At least one car came from the factory with a lift off fiberglass hood, held on with four pins..
I think it was a '69-70 Dodge/Plymouth Roadrunner/Superbee with a 440 Six Pack with the Track package. I could be wrong though. Like this..

If you have a super light weight carbon fiber hood, and your car will do 170+ then they're essential. If you drive your car around the city and occasionally get up to 110 every now and then, it's purely cosmetic.

Technically you don't need pins since the hood won't fly open. But yes they would go in back.
You could also use fake adhesive hood pins like these on a Mustang..
Notice, they are only for Mustangs!!!
