So the first part of your track passes have nothing to do with converter lock-up. The 60 ft for example is just showing that you are spinning or bogging, I would assume spin. Need to get that down, I've gone 1.85 with just a few bolt-ons, and hope to get into the low 1.6's with the new converter if my tires can hook it up.

Typically you'd only have the converter locking up in the top of 4th (or not at all for simple NA combos like these).

60 is nothing to do with converter, it's about lack of traction.

You're tuner should set it to lock at a certain MPH not by gear.

What he said. Do not lock it up at wide open throttle. You will burn out the lock up clutch in short order.

A properly matched converter will greatly improve the 60'. So the 60' has a ton to do with the converter.

Very true. No locking up a single disc at wot. It won't last long. At light throttle and cruising you can lock it.

I think John knows that, I think he was just implying that in this particular case that traction was probably the limiting factor.

And I was going to quote your question about the lockup, but you deleted the post? I've always heard that Dave doesn't recommend locking his single disc converters. I believe he either has, or is working on, some triple disc converters.
I probably shouldn't link to this, so if a mod needs to delete this.....my apologies.

Some converter companies are cool with locking their single disk converters at WOT depending on the power level.

To the quote, right, that's what I meant. Is Jamie trying to bust my balls? I've been 1.35 on DR's and help on a car that's gone 1.22 on 315 DR's. I was just noting that his high 60 ft is more due to traction issues than a converter lock up issue as the converter would still be in first and not be leaked.

After rereading what John wrote I can kinda see where he was implying his thoughts to this particular thread. He just wasn't able to make it clear.

Nothing wrong with your link. I've burned up some PTC converters that were single disc in a heavy truck. I answered my own question. That's why I removed my question. I'm trying not to clutter up his thread anymore than I already have.

Where's the suck my dick comment? You could've left it. I had a good comeback. Oh well... I got what you meant with the OP blowing the tires off.

While this chat is mildly interesting I don't think we are helping the kid why his car is running like poo? Anyone have any ideas?

The tuner said the convertor is not locking up at all. Did not say it was going to break and not move.I am trying to figure out if that is why the car is slow..

No. The car is slow because the 60' sucks.
The converter not locking at wot means nothing. I don't lock mine and went 11.61 on a 1.63 60'.
You're going 115, so we're mph'ing damn near the same....but I'm willing to bet with traction and a good 60' you might actually see your mph go up a mph or two.
Take your 2.17 and drop it to my 1.63 and what's your ET change to? Easy 11's, and that's just at a 1:1. You'll see a bit better than that.
