Headers new to the SS from v6

So i just got the SS from a member on here after my v6 was totaled i had done headers and all on that and i started looking at headers for the SS and im noticing alot dont bolt up to stock exhaust there is a axle back on already and was wondering what a good set of headers was that bolts to factory exhaust or do i need to jjust go with it and do a X pipe and replace more of the exhaust then just the headers.

Thanks.

If I understand your paragraph sentence(lol sorry) correctly you are asking if headers will bolt up to your existing exhaust which is an axle back? If that's the case then it probably will as long as the h pipe or x pipe is the same position as stock. Most likely they cut after the midpipe and that won't affect where the headers connect. Did I answer your question?

Company's like ARH and KOOKS and TSP etc all make long tube headers for the SS and a matching 'connection' pipe, either WITH high-flow CATS or without so that it can mate up to the stock cat-back.

As long as the cat-back your SS has isn't a custom fabbed one, this should be easily attainable.

It's up to you to decide though if you want to go that route or have a custom X-pipe put in place.

You need to look at systems that are designated as "factory connect" or "short system". These headers are designed to bolt up to the stock or aftermarket cat backs. If you have any questions feel free to send me a private message or give us a call.

Thanks guys thats what i was noticing. now is there a big difference in gains or sounds between the short system or factory connect or is it worth it to replace the whole thing?

No power gains from one or the other. Chase said it perfectly. Don't spend the extra coin on a full system if you already like your exhaust sound.

Headers are easy to hook to the front-end of your catback, whether it be factory or aftermarket. Deal with that connection specifically and worry about the catback later.

For a bolt on street car application, no.
