Wasn't a problem for me I just thought the two pics seemed odd considering the work was done at the same place. Regardless, I raised my rears about a 3/8" last night and it's pretty easy. Tested it this morning and the height is perfect now.

For ride height I measured from the top of the flange where the lower locking ring rests to the bottom of the spring seat. You can also measure the same as the 1st photo. Either way, just make sure you are measuring the from the same 2 points.

As squintz pointed out, in the second picture I am measuring preload on the spring. In the first picture I am measuring ride height.

So the ride can be different by adjusting the preload? Where should it be for road racing?

First check to see if one is already setup for preload (They ship with the preload already set, but sometimes they can loosen during shipping). You can do this by loosening the ring that holds the spring up. Then get it snug. Then simply tighten the ring until it has traveled 3-5mm. A set of calipers are always the best to use like in the pictures above. Make sure all 4 coilovers are in the same position for preload and you are good to go. All of our customers are in love with these coilovers.

thanks, set the preload and installed the fronts. Is it normal for the top retainer to be sitting up on the strut tower higher than before? Just cant figure out what holds the top of the strut in place after it is all done ( weight of the car, seems odd). I am going to try and take a pic and post it.

That's Normal. My coilovers do the same thing.
