Good for you young man! Unfortunately, *ssholes are everywhere. Being young, you're gonna catch sh*t sometimes....usually from jealous older men. When I was 17 (1990) I had a 1979 Trans Am and occasionally would go through that type of stuff. Although mostly it was "Damn, nice car!"

I don't know whats so hard to get. I'm 40, and kids now a days are something else. for the majority, they are spoiled little brats with an unbelievable sense of entitlement.

no, not all are like that, I know. but plenty enough are that it's easy to make the assumption. you sir, are the exception. not the rule

He didn't say that he was going to punch him in the face. He said he would retaliate if that guy threw the first punch. Get off of your high horse and read the damn thread.

Moral of the story, don't talk to strangers at gas stations.

For me the punch line is always when they cut the chit chat and go to work. "Man, you wouldn't happen to have a couple dollars would you? "

I get that V6 crap all the time. For example "you should have went SS or don't get one at all". I always respond.. It's suits my needs!! Then looking at their car... Evidently you can't support your needs!

Then walk away.. burning rubber as I exit!

I aim to please no one but myself! When it comes to my toys and hobbies.

I teach my children to smile and walk away from the ignorant and mean spirited people in the world. There isn't enough time in the day to teach basic manners and civility to those in dire need of assistance with basic life skills. That should cover 99.9% of the superfluous fools they will encounter in life.

If what has been said or done has hurt you so deeply it will follow you around the day it happened and for years to come say nothing. Focus, think and make a decision. I can walk away and smile. It won't be easy, but I can. If you can't, make certain they feel your pain.

No matter the consequences at school, criminally or civilly your self respect is worth it to you and to me. I'll be with you every step of the way. Just be sure it was necessary.

Three daughters. One incident. She dropped a guy two grades up and 30 pounds heavier. She was protecting her older sister from a bully. The zero tolerance school found tolerance. The police thought it was pretty funny when they saw my tiny daughter and the bully. His parents apologized to us along with his son. It was a rare positive outcome for a conflict.

A brief read may indicate I condone violence. I grew up old school so there is part of me that does. What I am trying to teach my children and hopefully a few people here is to use good judgement and learn to overlook the stupid and ignorant people and actions that are all too often part of everyday life. You'll enjoy life more. On those rare occasions that you feel it is important to you to set the record straight know in advance what potential price you may have to pay. Think it through and act accordingly.

You can smile and walk away 99.9% of the time. You'll win 99.9% of the time. 0.1% of the time you'll win the war to preserve your self respect 100% of the time just by acting. The fallout is 50/50 proposition at best.

Choose wisely.

Making steel and auto mobiles isn't dish washing or cleaning toilets. Machinists, welders, fabricators, mechanics, etc were not menial laborers.. Not everyone can be an engineer, scientist, etc. In the USA being born wealthy accounts for 60% of your chance of success. That's one of the worst in the world. France has higher upward mobility.

Bethlehem Steel was a real place that had great wages. I didn't need glasses to see that.

you just ignore it. I got married at 18, and had my second child when I was 20. many a time I'd be out with both of them. you want to talk about getting looks. I'd also get plenty of comments about how I shouldn't have had them, shouldn't be married so young. hell, one person even told me I may have thought I was happy, but I really wasn't. people used to also accuse the wife of having got pregnant on purpose just to "trap" me. we just laughed it off, and still get a chuckle if we think about it.

and a year later (at 21) we bought our house, had it built. and at 22 had the last child. those all got dirty looks and comments too.

My first job out of college (circa 2003) was in a steel mill. Not easy work by any means. Great learning experience but I had to move on.

And by the way engineers aren't millionaires by any means
