Like i said, if that's all you ever have your sights set for then fine. I'm not spending $1200 bucks for something that's gonna be in the junk pile when I get this car sounding right, and talking dyno numbers is just bench racing.

You bought a 1LE anyway, it's supposed to give you something better for your extra money anyway. It should be faster than a stock SS on the road course as well as the dragstrip.

This has become a stupid thread. Two_Wheel_Mayhem, you said it was just a gimmick. I don't know why you think it sounds like an old pick up truck with an exhaust leak. I have never heard a truck sound this awesome, but I guess exhaust note is subjective. Every person that has heard mine said it sounds incredible. I have even had two strangers come up to me and ask what I did to it to make is sound so great. That alone is worth it for me.

Also, it is $895, not $1,200.

What bolt on exhaust that you are going to find that gives you much more power? A Corsa, Borla, or Magnaflow all produce around the same power increase and cost around the same or more money. They all sound good, so pick the one you like the best.

You obviously just want to argue without any knowledge about the topic, so on that note, I am out.

It's because the majority of SS Camaros ordered and sold now are automatics. I think it's rare on a V6 because most people that buy a V6 don't care for the sound.

FWIW, I order all of our manual SSs with it and I would not order one for myself without it. I love it.

Have it, Love it... But then again, I'm one of those rare owners who does enjoy a "stock" car.

I was thinking long tubes, a cat back system with a cai and tune to start with. Same set of first mods everyone does. Mods which will make more gains than having a gimmicky exhaust that utilizes a valve to redirect exhaust flow through a straight pass-through the stock type muffler.

Dual mode factory exhaust doesn't seem to fit my needs. No knowledge of the subject? Ok.

Oh ok! Maybe it isn't available in Canada or something? It wasn't even an option with the V6 in manual. Odd.....

Well for my "gimmicky" exhaust and I am sure anyone else who has it on their car will say the same thing....we sure get a lot of praise and comments on how sweet the sound is.

I'm sure we don't get the same hp gains as others would with aftermarket headers, exhaust, etc.

Personally I don't care if I gain 15hp or whatever with my exhaust. I wanted something that sounds awesome when on the throttle, but still tolerable in the car when cruising on the highway. I get both of those, in spades, with the NPP exhaust. And I have full warranty coverage on it for five years. Pretty easy sell for me.

Isn't the dual mode new for my13? Might explain the relative scarcity of the option.

Love it on my 1LE. I don't care for beast mode at all times. I dd my car. I don't need the extra noise all the time. It sounds great.

Yes, new for '13 and only originally on the SS manual.

Listen to this Camaro 1LE with the "gimmicky old pickup truck" option...

Put your headphones on to hear and feel the sound...

From a pure performance point of view, this sort of extra cost and complexity is seen as appealing to people interested only in the sound of performance whether or not the extra performance is there. You would not find such a feature on a race car, nor would you likely pay extra for it in an aftermarket exhaust system.

That's not to say it's a universally bad thing, just that anything that provides image without much substance to back it up isn't going to be viewed by all as a universally good thing either. There's an aura of artificiality about it, I guess.

It's really not much different from the OE muffler in the 2001 Anniversary Edition Maxima and I think some Infiniti model, which had some sort of internal valve arrangement that opened under some conditions. Except that Nissan's was 100% mechanically controlled and actuated. I'll have to cut that one open some day before I toss it out. No jealousy here, I just couldn't be bothered to touch that vehicle's exhaust until one of the joints started leaking and I had to.
