Turbonetics T76 help

So next week the turbonetics Kit I purchased for my 1LE goes in.... Couple questions ?

I live in California that's also Why I got the Kit... Anyone have any idea what's a safe yet the best boost level to keep the the Kit at... Some people say 7psi , get some other people said I cam go up to 8psi and still be safe ? Also anyone know what's tge boost needed to pass carb ?

2. Do you guys recommend an oil catch can ?

3. I wanted to purchase the FAST LSX R intake manifold cause us CARB 50 state legal.... With the FAST big mouth throttle body 102 mm... And the FAST billet fuel rails ...... are those good choices or am I better getting a different cam ?

3. What upgrade on a cam is California legal ? I read that tye LS 9 is a great choice

4. I don't want to keep tye stock air box for the turbonetics Kit... I want to slap a performance air filtet there... Just don't know which size will fit ? I have a AEM cold air intakw currently on ky car will that filter fit ?

Over all what can I do or upgrade to the turbonetics Kit to squeeze every but of hp ?

Lio: I just had my turbonetics 50 state legal kit installed by East Coast Supercharging in NJ

If you were going by the law, any alterations to the kit will void the carb exempt status. I think it is more about what you think you can get away with in Cali.. I don't live there, so I can't say.. I can say what I did and what my though process is about it.. I had the same idea as I'm in NJ and we often follow Cali with the super strict emissions laws.. I wanted my upgrade to stay in place and liked that this kit comes with the CARB exemption with the stitckers and all that. I really didn't want the Diablo sport hand held tuner, but in order for it to be a 50 state legal kit I had to buy complete. In NJ and I just need to pass the OBD2, with no visual inspection, they can't tell by testing the OBD2 that it's "tuned", so what they don't know won't hurt me! I was interested in modding the kit to my liking. Turbonetics offers 7lb springs and 9 lb springs. I went with the 9lb springs.. I ditched the stock air box lid for a cone style K&N that ECS uses on thier supercharger kits. I made 11.5 lbs of boost in this configuration.. How much boost you want is up to you and your tuner. I was adding an ECS boost refferenced boost-a-pump and meth and ECS is very comfortable tuning with this much boost on a stock LS3 with these extras, so I was happy to see the extra boost..

2. Do you guys recommend an oil catch can ?

I have the RX dual valve catch can with an open breather in place of the oil fill cap.. Tell Tracy (rx owner) you want the Turbonetics mount.. He doesn't advertise it but he made a few of these for us with this kit.. puts the can near the thermostat housing kinda behind and under that massive charge pipe in the turbonetics kit..

3. I wanted to purchase the FAST LSX R intake manifold cause us CARB 50 state legal.... With the FAST big mouth throttle body 102 mm... And the FAST billet fuel rails ...... are those good choices or am I better getting a different cam ?

Dude, you don't need all that stuff..., but I understand you want to make it all it can be... If you want the rump ity rump idle or the aftermarket look of this stuff under hood, then go for it... My car made 649 rwhp and 693 rwtq with the above set up... stock cam...drives like a stock car.. makes mad power... and I knocked down the best gas mileage ever (25 mpg) since I got it back.. In 3 tank fills I haven't topped off the meth but it is 1/2 full still (holds 3 gal).

TNT523 how much extra did u pay for the extra 9lbs springs ? So does the kit come with the 7lbs ?

Do you know the dimensions of the k&n filter size ? So u literally made 649 hp with just the turboneticd kit and a few changes ?

very inexpensive... ECS got them for me.. kit spec is 6.5 lb springs..

More importantly, it was 693rwtq. It is tq that moves these heavy cars..

I don't know the exact size filter.. it is tucked away pretty good, so I can't size it up for you.. I'll try to remember to ask ECS for you, I will be talking to them early this week..

i listed everything we did... 11.5 lbs of boost through the less restrictive filter, meth, and TUNE, TUNE, TUNE... One thing I didn't mention.. I spent $345 bucks having Swain Tech Coatings in NY coat the turbo hot side (cast iron part of the turbo) and the pipes that are installed in the engine compartment.. It helps spool the turbo faster by keeping the hot gas inside the pipe and keeps the engine bay a little cooler. It works well enough that I'm not using any of the fiberglass wrap that comes with the kit or the T4 housing bonnet/turbo hot side blanket.

Go with the best FI tuner you know and don't even think about price here. You're dropping thousand and thousands on gear.. get the tune right and you will have a wicked fast street car that will run for many miles... don't sweat the dyno numbers too much... this kit will make you sh*t your pants.. it's damn fast

Tom since I'm.new to all this stuff what do I need to replace the 9lbs springs ? Meaning where are they located...? Once I have Kit installed and I want to switch them how can it be done ? Do u have your bov atmospheric or recirculatibg ? Do u recommend me to get the aem boost control gauge ?

call turbonetics and ask for reggie. tell him you have the 50 state legal camaro kit and you want 9lb wastegate springs.. The wastegates are boxed up with the blow off valve in your kit.. You have to pop the top off the wastegates and swap out the springs for the 9 lb ones... Ask reggie about installing them when you buy them.. bov and wastegates are recirculating.... that's the way the kit is made up (without modding it) on another note.. go on turbonetics web site, download the directions for this thing... it's allot of pages... if you self install the kit, you may want to leave the standard springs in there... get it all together, upload the diablo tune to your ecu.. before the custom tune have your tuner install the 9lb springs... shit you may love it with the home install and canned diablo sport tune... you could be 525 - 550 rwhp with out the custom tune and bigger wastegate springs !!

Boost gauge is a must.. really boost and air/fuel.. tru boost gauge is really a boost controller in a gauge face.. not needed unless your over boosting.. running higher boost than the springs... it's not like I can run 6lbs of boost and turn it up to 11lbs with a tru boost.. I think you can over boost and only lower to the level your springs provide.. look at the aeroforce interceptor, reads anything the ecu reads and you can also hook up wide band 02 for a/f and or boost...

I am planning on buying a tru boost to up my boost. I will leave my stock springs in...best of both worlds - lower boost when wanted...higher boost when wanted.

I also would like to know the diameter of filter needed for the tube, I guess I could go measure it and see lol.

oh and pretty sure no cams are CARB legal, ls9 might be I guess

That's an awesome idea, and one that had deffinatley crossed my mind.... although I like the fact that I'm mechanical here... the other thing is the tru boost is a single gauge and I would like boost and a/f displayed in a single...I'm not crazy about dual a-pillar gauges in the camaro (knocks out the tru boost gauge) so, I need a gauge that displays both boost and a/f..so with the other options not even close to my liking (won"t go into it here) I'll be looking at the fessler single a-pillar and a aeroforce gauge...

For ECS it was not even discussed, they had it in stock... I had the same question when I was parts gathering'....

I plead the fifth..... LOL
