If GM would produce more colors that would 'pop', they would sell more, I think

Maybe- maybe not. Yes - it was quite some time ago, but in 1999, we received three new colors - Pewter (which was offered on every GM car that year) Bright Orange, and Bright Blue Metallic.

Well...........

Bright blue lasted less than 7 months - if it drops below 3 percent, we get a 60 day warning - because the paint deteriorates in the vats ......

Orange barely made it thru the year........

Pewter became the number two selling color for 1999 -- black outselling it by only 77 units!

Making things more difficult (and I've mentioned this numerous times...) we must share a body shop and paint shop with:

>Buick Regal
>2014 Impala
>Cadillac XTS

-- of which all three come down the same final assembly line as Camaro on Oshawa's 'Flex' line -- plus...

>2013 Impala (and 2014 Impala Limited for fleet)
>Equinox
...that come down the Oshawa Consolidated line

As you can probably imagine - there isn't a lot of demand for bright colors on Regal/XTS/Impala/Equinox -

Unless something's changed in the past weeks - we get three 'unique' colors for Camaro (can be shared by others if they so wish)

In fact - we offered ABM on the Impala in 2010.........that did not end well!

For 2010-2013, the unique colors were Rally Yellow, Inferno Orange Metallic and Victory Red. For 2014 - we've updated all three --

We also get a 'specialty color' for limited runs (such as Synergy Green and Bright blue on the Hotwheels Camaro)

Now - for the hard part:

What colors would you replace Yellow, Red or Orange with - and how do you know that the color you propose will sell?

That's hard. Because color is so very subjective.

I humorously say that we could offer you 40 colors - and sure as heck we wouldn't pick the right 40 for some peoples' tastes.

Lastly - you'd be amazed at how much it costs to 'engineer' a new color - and depending on the color it can go from $$$$$$ to $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Why does the 14 lose the iom and get replaced with another dark red? If im not mistaken there are 2 similar dark reds for the 14.

Red Rocks Metallic is actually an orange/bronze. It appears 'red' in the pictures.

I do see the bronze as well but its closer to a dark red then anything else in my opinion. I really wanted a "color" when I ordered my car. White is the easiest to look good with the color choices they chose for 14. Sorry if I come off rude but gm is the only one not playing the color game. Iom should have stayed if anything. Didnt mean to take this thread off course. Just was hoping that red rock was much more orange then red. But guess thats why its called red rock, then we have red jewel.
