Need help on deciding which Pfadt suspension package to choose..

I am trying to decide between 2 suspension packages that Pfadt offers. I am looking at the Camaro Performance Kit - Stage 2 and the Camaro Performance Kit - Stage 2 ZL SPEC.

My car is a 2010 SS with 20x10 and 275/40/20 on all 4 corners. So the 2nd package will require the 2012 update, which is like an additional $300. So, all-in-all, Im trying to figure out if the extra $400 (Stage 2 ZL Spec + 2012 update) is worth the expense or not. The car is my DD and will not see any track time. Therefore, I do not want to compromise the ride quality too much. My ultimate goal is to have the car ride and handle similar to a 1LE without going over the top.

Your thoughts would be much appreciated!

The Stage 2 is a very good package but the ZL Spec Stage 2 is on another level. Neither package is inappropriate for daily driver use. If you want to run with a 1LE then I would recommend the ZL Spec Stage 2. If your perma-grin has faded at all that will bring it back brighter than ever before.

zl spec 2 would make you quicker in twisties than a 1 le if you can drive.

Agreed....the spec 2 is an entirely different experience around the corners....and once you connect with the car, it will be hard for any 1le to keep up.

Just shoot for your goals, and make sure you pick what you really wanted. It's the kind of thing that if you're going to do it, do it right the fist time and never look back!

+1 for the ZL spec package. Also, the difference is only about 100 bucks if you are doing endlinks on the sport bar package. For the small price gap, I would 100% say go with the ZL spec package. You will thank yourself later.

Please feel free to call, PM or email me anytime with questions.

Best regards,

Thank you everyone for the responses! It looks like the ZL package is the way to go, and as mentioned earlier, I should do it right the first time.

I have a few more questions if you all don't mind...

Do theses kits come with recommended alignment settings?

Also, is this something I can do myself?

When I say this, I mean remove and replace lower arms, install springs and sways? Or, would it be best to have a shop do? I consider myself mechanically inclined, and I am sure I have most of the tools required to do the job. Truth is, I feel pretty ignorant when it comes to the suspension of these cars. I haven't taken the time to jack up to car and study everything as I've never had to work on this car (which I guess is a good thing).

If I can do this on my own, is there an official or recommended write-up? The reason why I ask is because I would like to make sure that everything is torqued down to the proper spec and that locktite is used where need (if needed). I go crazy at the thought of certain shops who tighten everything with an impact wrench or don't take the extra time to get things right.

You are the only one that can answer that question. Sounds like a maybe.

Instructions should be included and Pfadt has a great page on their website with instructions and other write ups you can refer to. I am right there with you on using proper torque specs.

Thank you, Chase!

I found the alignment specs on your website.. I later found them on Pfadt's. I don't know how I could have missed that.

I took a look under the car tonight, and it looks like it should be a pretty easy job.
