I hate these types of threads..
I never bash/badmouth anyone else's car.I am just glad GM came out with the 5th gen.It forces mustang, challengers and camaros to continuously improve and evolve.

I have appreciation for the american muscle car,it doesn't matter what make. Some people do mods to their cars which is not for me but everyone has their own tastes and I can appreciate their individuality.
just enjoy what you drive and appreciate others.

this may be a true statement, but it's not an accurate assessment of what you are trying to say.

yes, most v6 vs v8 threads are started by v6 owners, but the threads themselves didn't start off as a v6 vs v8 thread. a v8 owner goes into a v6 thread, saying they should have bought a v8, when the thread was about modding their v6.

OP, let me ask you a serious question. This is for anyone on here, actually.

Outside of this forum, how many people told you in real life you should've gotten a V8? I have a total of ONE. My old boss, who tried to talk me into getting a 2001 LS supercrew.

How many people have said MAN...you pull 300 horses out of a V6 and get those MPGs? I would consider a V6 myself with that kind of power as high as gas is.

How many compliments have you received on how nice/sharp your car is? Was it followed by what size engine? Did they knock it? If so what did they drive? Did they have any actual friends?

Now, if anyone ever did diss your V6, did you genuinely like those people? Who are you trying to impress?

Surely it's not the C5 members..I mean I like this community and all but at the end of the day I could not care less about these people.

The V6 of today is not the V6 of even 10 years ago. And with an RS, it can be hard to even tell if it's an SS or not until you get up to it. My dad and I were looking at an SS over the weekend I test drove, my main want is the displacement sound. Not even that big on the power because I wouldn't mod it. He used to drive corvettes, T/As, etc and cars were his thing. He said back then it was a huge difference in a V8 and V6, and they really didnt do much with that 6 cylinder motor. He said of all the cars he owned one if his favorites was a little 6 camaro. And this is someone who put cams/headers and whatnot on his cars and loves a V8. True car enthusiasts will not care what you drive, it's how you make it your own. You could have a 1993 Buick gran sport but if you took pride in it you'd get more respect at a car show than some condescding and insecure douche.

I did, I bought an SS and supercharged it LOOOOOOL

(j/k)

PS: My sister drives a Cadillac CTS-4 3.6. I never judged her for buying the "small" engine... She wouldn't know what to do with the CTS-V anyway

When I bought my SS there was no ZL1 or I would have bought it. I'm plenty happy with my SS and don't fantasize about owning a ZL1 like you think....really who cares.
Look up. It's flying over your head. Perhaps he should have put a smiley face or j/k for the humor impaired. j/k

My first new car out of high school was a Mustang V6, and it was due to two things, 1. My age and the cost of insurance 2. My budget as a GT would have been several thousand dollars more.

The 3.8 made 193 hp and 225 tq. The current GT V8 was rated at 260 hp and 302 tq. Your Camaro V6 depending on year is anywhere between 304hp and 323hp... vastly faster than the old GT V8, pretty on par with the last of the 4.6 GT's... and pretty on par with the 4th Gen LS1.

The main feeling of inadequacy comes from the noise in my opinion, if the Camaro V6 was named anything else it wouldn't be an issue, but for a lot of people the name is synonymous with big V8's and the V8 growl...

The performance is respectable, but there will always be the pre-concieved ideas about the pony cars and V8's.

Personally I think the stock V6 sounds really good. The stock V8 exhaust is laughably bad. The engine sounds beautiful though, especially at 4-6kRPM
