List of problems with 98 Camaro Z28

I am having a few issues

The car does not start right up. it takes a good couple of seconds

the fuel gauge does not read my fuel proper. the gauge just moves wherever it wants

when the car is ready to shift to 2nd, it kicks very hard into 2nd. (automatic)

i have 4 CEL's
P0420
P0430
P0171
P0174

Any ideas?
I think there may be a vacuum leak aswell. I hear a loud hiss noise around the intake area.

cat codes, could be directly related to your vacuum leak. need to find the source of that ASAP and then clear codes and drive to see if they come back. could be a simple fix.

for the fuel gauge, could be an issue with the cluster or an issue with the fuel sender.

anywhere you see a hose, move it around a little bit. basicly need to go by hearing. The best way is to take a can of brake cleaner or carb cleaner and spray it in areas near the intake manifold and see if the engine revs up. this however, is a very risky task and you could set your car on fire if you get carried away and start spraying too close to the coils.

if you think it has a vacuum leak then most likely it does. the codes shown pop up a big light bulb for a very lean condition pointing towards a leak. could be intake gaskets, egr leak, egr stuck, vacuum lines .....

http://www.ls1.com/forums/f6/vacuum-...-think-119474/

could be similar to this guy

not too many vacuum lines on an LS1

get your hand in there and move stuff around lightly. yes, with the engine on. pay attention to the belt, stay away from that area. if you don't feel comfortable with this, don't do it. let a shop take a look.

if you are willing to find the source of the leak then gotta get in there and find that leak.

I had issues like this - possibly even the same codes. My Z28 was an 02, so I didn't have your EGR system. In my case, both of the original cats had gone bad, and 2 out of my 4 o2 sensors had failed.

I'd find that vacuum leak if you have one, then swap out the o2 sensors. Good luck with that. Satan himself created the cat/sensor location for LS1 fourth gens. A lot of beer and foul language was involved when I did it.

If the engine is not running right, the trans will not shift right. Hopefully they are linked together. Fix engine first then reevaluate
