Don't trust the computer or the phone you have go in person to look for Camaro's. Avis seems to have a problem with precision. Which is no excuse for a rental company based on automated systems.

The whole fact that the pre orders where not filled before the Avis deliveries has me a bit upset but again I am not gonna let some people that made that choice ruin me getting into one of these Camaro's someday.

My husband negotiated it down to $65 per day. Although it was a 1LT and that could have a huge bearing on the pricing and of course pricing will vary by location. I've been trying to find the pricing out for SF but even though the website says SFO has them if you try to reserve they show sold out. And I don't have time lately to sit on the phone calling the location to confirm they received their Camaro's and how many they have. And asking if they are 1LTs, 2LTs or 2SS is like speaking a foreign language to the desk people. They in most cases couldn't even tell me if it was a V6 or V8. So I had to ask is there this slot type thing on the front bumper and they are I don't know the cars are too far away from the desk to see. UGH
Sounds to me like you just got lucky... Seems like this would depend on the Avis location and possibly which person behind the desk you are talking with some may follow policy and some may ignore it. I cannot see the guys at the Avis I rented from giving me a Camaro for anything less then $ 100 a day regardless if I upgraded from a full-size.

I have rented a camaro twice using this same practice of reserving a midsize/full size and then upgrading to the camaro with an upgrade charge. I found this out not online but at the counter from the agent who told me about it after I drove by and saw 2 camaro's on the lot and 3 at the cleanup shop with window stickers on them. She said it was $110 a day to rent the camaro outright and saw my face drop in anguish. She then tells me that if reserve the full size it would be cheaper that way.

SFO has 2SS and LTs but I don't think my full-size reserve w/upgrade to Camaro will work as well as it did in Minneapolis since the full-size rate at SFO is $143 per day even with numerous different discount codes. UGH! Really would like to rent a 2SS to convince my husband I can handle the power so he doesn't force me into 2LT. Although I think at this point I would be happy w/either.

We paid the same for a 1LT, and couldn't even find an SS... LAX probly has a bigger selection than Fresno Intl tho...
