1/4 Mile Gains with Solo HFC and Power Wedge

Just thought I would post my results for information purposes. Went to Sacramento Raceway two months after buying the car. Bone stock the best I could do was a 13.28 ET at 850 DA. Last night I ran a 13.12 ET at 1140 DA with Solo High Flow Cats and Vararam Power Wedge. Not sure what either was worth individually. Bought the HFC for $350 used on the forum and paid about $105 for the PW.

I have a Halltech cold air intake and ADM scoop on order, hopefully that will get me in the 12s.

Also worth noting at the track was a bolt on G8 running 11.80's, a nearly stock Mustang Boss running 12.0's and two GTR's which drove 2 hours to the track and then laid down a 9.70 ET on street tires, very impressive.

Congrats! Any other mods? What about future mods?

My other mods are brakes, sways and bushings that probably have no affect on 1/4 mile times, but certainly help on the road course.

After the intake, gears are probable next. Then coilovers and camber plates.

Way down the line I will probably add headers, cam and tune.

The goal is to have a low 12 second daily driver that is also great on the road course. Looks like I am on the same path you are on, just two years behind you.

That's damn good for no LT's or tune! Your bushings believe it or not (depending on which ones you replaced) do have an effect on your times, primarily your 60ft time, but that would work in conjunction with your tire setup as well.

With the stock 275/40 pirrelli's I ran 112 mph on the 13.28 red lining it in 3rd gear. I now have 275/35's and had to pull 4th about 200 feet from the finish and ran 109 mph on the 13.12 ET.

You're definitely making some great top end power. You might just need some more traction and you'll be In the 12s for sure.

Yea, my 60 foot times varied from a 2.11 - 2.40. I would like to get some DOT drag radials, but I live 2 1/2 hours from the track and don't want to deal with broken drive train parts.

Excellent runs.
But looks like your gains came from a better launch. Usually trap speed will tells you if you're making more power (not always).

And I definately see 12s in your near future.

Maybe I am old school, but to me 12 second street cars are still pretty bad ass.

Stock the 60 foot times varied between 2.23 and 2.40's.

With the HFC's and PW the 60 foot times were between 2.11 and 2.40's. I do think it was making more torque down low and was less succeptible to bogging. When I bogged it stock I ran 13.40's, this time when I bogged it I still ran 13.20's.

You easily have 12s with no more mods! Your 60s should range from 1.9-2.0 on stock tires, any higher and it's a driving issue or real bad prep! If you hit the limiter in 3rd just make sure you shift 4th right at redline to try and keep your mph up. Good job your getting there.

Yea, I have been coming off the line slipping the clutch from 2,000-2,500 rpm. Read somewhere else that if I come out at 4,000-4,500 slipping the clutch, I should lower me 60 foot times. What do you recommend Bad70Supreme? Sacramento raceway doesn't have much teeth on the starting line.

I get my best times coming out around 4-4500rpms! If the track is not prepped well its gonna be tuff. I find my car bogs bad at anything less and really hurts my times! I think these cars need gears bad, it would help with launch bog but adds an extra shift. Get the tires nice and hot too, the p zeros actually get pretty sticky with heat!

Get some cradle bushing inserts if you dont already have them and some trailing arms. Those will help alot with your car at both the 1/4 and road course. Those will also help you not get any wheel hop. As long as you dont have any wheel hop at your power level your not going to break any drivetrain parts with drag radials. Your 60ft time is whats killing you. You have a easy mid 12's car with a better 60ft with the power your at. It just needs drag radials, trailing arms and the bushings.
