Upgrade mine or buy ZL1?
I have a 2011 SS/RS with somewhere around 12-17k miles I think (Its in storage while stationed in Italy) I potentially will be back in the states late 2014, I'm trying to decide wether I should drop 10-15k in supercharger and other upgrades (Engine parts, and ZL1 bumper), or sell mine and spend the money to just buy a new ZL1? I have done some mods now, lowered, 22" Diablo Angels, CAI, Muffler delete, new hood. Mine is also paid off.

Go with ZL1
Quote:
- more powerful brakes - upgraded suspension - heavy duty rear end, axles - better fuel pump - supercharger warranted by Chevrolet There are other advantages too, but these came to mind instantly.

Most upgrades you can find in the aftermarket can be better than what comes with the ZL1 -- coilovers, superchargers, etc. Plus an SS will be lighter. If you end up upgrading your Zl1, you would end up spending more anyway. If you want a warranty, then the ZL1 might be a better option, though some tuning shops might also offer one if you go with one of their packages. Since yours is paid off though, I would probably hold on to it. Don't think the benefit is worth going into more debt.

Thanks guys for reply, any idea who much I can get a fully loaded ZL1 out the door? I would hope to sell mine for 30-32k, not sure if that is a little to ambitious, but that would be the hope...

Put 20k in your car u will end up with a better car. Fully loaded zl1 are in the 60+ range. I was in the same boat u where in. So went the with upgrading my 2010. My buddy's ss with a maggy and cam makes 638rwhp. If u want a warranty go with the zl1

I would usually say go for the ZL1 but that's if you don't have a lot invested already in mods. It sounds like you do, so unless you're ready to put everything back to stock I'd stick w/ the SS.

You can put all the money you want into a SS, and it's still just a SS ... Do it right and go with a ZL1, it's the best all around and balanced car for the money.

Realistically you'll get about 25k for your car and a zl1 will be around 60k. I'd honestly work on your ss. 35k will surpass the zl1 in performance, look around and see if you can get a warranty to go with your package deal.

Just did this exact thing
Get the ZL1 --no comparison Modded your SS will lower the value on a trade in!
