I don't exactly know a brand, but google Snell 2010 helmets, you'll find lots of sites selling them. That should cover you. But, it's nice to be able to try them on without buying so if you can find something local to you

I've ridden motorcycles for 49 years, and the best combination of fit, comfort and protection by a large margin are Arai helmets, but they are expensive. But, what's your head worth? Another really good helmet that is newer to the market, but is very good, and cheaper than Arai, is Scorpion. I have several Arais and one Scorpion, and am happy with both. Another good helmet, that just doesn't fit me very well, but is good is Shoei, also expensive.

I wear an RCI SA2010-rated helmet with Nomex liner (and head sock) when racing on the salt flats.

My suggestion would be go try on a few diffrent brands because they all fit diffirent. Large in a Shoe isn't the same as large in Arai and so on. I love the scorpions for the price they can't be beat and the are comfortable. I also know the work from personal experiance.

Just make sure it's SA Snell 2010 certified, and you'll be good anywhere.

I would suggest trying them on BEFORE you buy a helmet. Go to a local store and get the most comfortable one in your budget. I know for myself, Arai helmets just for whatever reason don't like the shape of my head. Simpson, and Bell are typically my go-to's for helmets, those are what fits me the best, and what seem to be the most comfortable.

But seriously though, we're all different, so go to a store, and try some stuff on.

OP... try www.ronayers.com. They're located in Greenville, NC, which is not far from you. If you PM me, I will help you out as that's where I get 95% of my motorcycle gear from.

Scorpion helmets are great tho.

A SA-2010 full-face helmet will get you into any automotive event (I have a Simpson Classic Voyager).

M-rated helmets (motorcycle) will get you into autocross, but not out on the road courses. I have no idea what the dragstrips might require.

My advice is to pick one with good ventilation and a relatively large eyeport.

SafeRacer carries many helmet names and a wide range of price. Light weight costs $$$, unfortunately.

If you need to wear glasses, keep that in mind. I can't help you there, so ask around for experiences.

nhra says sa or m for there rules, sa2010 or m2010 is the most current. sa 2005 is still acceptable ( the number is the most current year, and they are only good for so many years, i believe 10 years) and the cheapest place to find a m2005 or a m2010 is" dennis kirk.".... just my 2 cents... not sure what your doing.

If you have no problem sinking tens of thousand into a car, do you really want the cheapest brain bucket?
