Yeah I'm new to this forum and I can say I take it to the track frequently and don't screw off on the street much.

That said I'm willing to bet the vast majority of those on here driving a V8 have and do occasionally have a go at it on the street and to be frank I don't see the issue unless you are doing it in traffic/endangering other people.

Nicely done OP, I bet he was surprised and more than a little disappointed.

The night we purchased hers (last Friday) an older (70s?) Camaro with what appeared to be a blower lined up with us at a light right before the freeway (4 lanes, going straight onto a highway, no on ramp). Had a similar situation as yours

Street racing is a big no no now a days. But I do know areas where guys do it where they're only risking their own health (road no longer in use to the public and no side streets, etc).

On public streets - big no no.

But I will admit, back in the day street racing was a very popular "sport" and was done all over the country by most racers. I'm talking about 30+ years ago (before many you were even born).
I remember watching street races at some popular spots and even the police would park their cars and watch. Even off duty police would race their weekend race cars at these street racing nights (usually Friday night).

You could also drive around with an open beer in your hand (and the legal drinking age was 18).

But times have changed and it has been proven that street racing kills people.
