Chevy Warranty Issue
Ok, so 2 weekends ago, my car died on me on the highway. Had it towed under roadside assistance to the nearest dealership, which was obviously closed at 1:00 am. Had to take a $160.00 cab back to oshawa from Peterborough where I was. The car was there for 3 days and they replaced te mass air flow sensor. All ok, was under warrantee and I had to take the hit for cab. After I picked it up, it seemed to have less power then before, and that wasn't enough bother to bring it back in. Now, periodically when I turn the key, it cranks for about 6 seconds even when I let go of the key, but does not start. Every time I ring it in, they annoy replicate the problem.
2 questions: -can I get reimbursed for the cab fare? -what should I do about the failed starts and loss of power? You guys are always awesome, so ill leave that with you. Thanks C5!

Make sure the sensor they installed is a "strong" sensor...

How can I tell if it is a strong sensor? And what if it isn't? Will they replace it again?

they won't do anything on the "strong vs weak sensor" .
for the reimbursement, you will have to get with the service manager on that and a good time to do that will be when you return it back to them for further repairs. it sounds like you still have an issue. it sounds to me like it's fuel pressure related. a MAF is not something that will cause you to stall and then not start. but thats just my thoughts.

I would do the fuse pull as well as disconnect/reconnect the battery to see if that clears the computer first, then if not take it back and have it fixed.

Roadside assistance
Too late for your current situation, but.... if I'm not mistaken, with roadside assistance under warranty, you are able to have the car towed to the dealership of your choice, not the closest.

There isn't a weak or strong MAF in the V6's, that's on the SS I think, can anyone clarify?

Wouldn't hold your breath on the reimbursement for the cab, but worth a call if you have the bill with a date and you made a report with GM for the repair.
As for the power loss issue, if you aren't happy with the repair take it back and make them fix it! They must offer you a rental/loaner if they can't fix it in a timely manor and its worth being stubborn about it while you're still under warranty. Good luck! Keep us posted!

His is a V6. No weak or strong MAF. The LLT MAF's as prone to failure.
Keep trying or find another dealer that members here have ranked as good....not poor. I cant imagine reimbursement for a cab....that would be outside of any business I can think of, but many do provide a loaner car which is nice. If you cant get it solved, Reggie or one of the other customer service reps on here can help I'm sure. The engine will crank automatically as soon as the start position is activated until it either starts, or the PMC/ECU does not detect start after 6 seconds and then you have to repeat. Good luck! |

Should be an lfx in a 2012, so MAF shouldn't be the issue then
