So it's 90 degrees out today. The car has been sitting for 2-3 hours after a 20 min drive. I get a call, my bud wants to see me do a burnout (cut him slack, he drives a Subaru). I go and do said burnout (only one), and now there's this whine from what sounds like the engine between 3-4k rpm, and then it goes away. Oil temp was normal, but tranny temp was 180 degrees and I could feel heat coming up the shifter. I've heard it before, but it was always muffled, now it's very loud. I got a vid of it pulling away from a stoplight on the way home.

My tranny temp climbs up there after a nice spirited drive. Hopefully someone recognizes the sound from your video. I haven't had any luck with mine.

O'Reillys $10 automotive stethoscope is a really good tool to go get! I had a crowd of people outside the store today guessing at what my chirping noise was. Good to know I'm not the only one that doesn't recognize it. With the stethoscope you can at least rule out all of the things you FEAR it might be.

I can definitely hear it. I don't think it sounds too bad. It almost sounds like mine does with the A/C on. Does it go away with the A/C off?
