It wasn't up to them. GM gave them another allocation for me. We are friends with Mark LaNeve.

Looks like you got a dealer "Hook up" not a discount that us averages scmucks get! Big difference you have to admit.

Pohanka

I just ordered my car from Pohanka about two weeks ago, and am probably going to have to pay 5k over sticker. I would have gone elsewhere, but every other dealer I talked to told me they weren't allowed to submit any other orders for several months.

My understanding is that Pohanka was doing such a high volume of Camaros, that they were allocated several more custom orders?

I just wrote an e-mail to Chevrolet.com to see what insight they had.

Jim McKay Chevrolet in Fairfax, Va will sell you a Camaro at MSRP. They will even honor supplier/military discounts and the USAA discount. However, they do have a long waiting list and non-MSRP orders goto the back of the line. If you got the money and want the car then stay with Pohanka. As a college student buying the car with cash, there's no way I can afford to pay any sort of markup; I wouldn't even pay MSRP.

If you decide on Jim McKay. Ask for Craig Caldwell, and tell him Jorge sent you.

Jozef,

Check out outlying dealers. The dealership in Warrenton has gotten a lot of good reviews here. The farther out from the DC / I-95 corridor you get the better. Don't overpay and support a dishonest dealer network.

Also, read the threads on the allocation process going away and reverting to first come first serve basis. There were 2 recent threads on this topic. Hopefully this will counter the price hikes that have been going on recently.

There is something fundamentally wrong with a company that takes taxpayer money to stay afloat, then turns around and gouges it's most loyal customers. Also before anyone responds with it's not GM it's the dealer, that's a cop out and nothing will convince me otherwise.
