I would have rather waited for it to cure and for them to install the protective tape rather than remove it have it repainted and installed with the tape. I like the look and if I would have known I would have paid extra for the tape.

Or, if anyone's inclined, you can plastidip it. I did mine black with glossifier over it. Rocks seem to bounce right off of it but if it did chip it's simple to recoat it.

I get what you are saying, but nobody offers a clear bra install on splitters and bumpers when you buy them pre-painted, they assume most people know that if it's going on the front of the car it will get chips. It's not just their splitter, or splitters only that have this issue. I'm not trying to argue, just saying you are expecting that RPI should have done a better job on something and you expect something that is hardly an industry standard, or even offered. The paint should cure for 30 days or so before applying a clear bra film... I think most people would probably not want to wait around that long for their splitter to show up, if they did not have too. The amount of people that would actually want it done by RPI, is probably pretty small so it would not be feasible for them to offer it as a service perhaps? Speculation of course, but that's my observation.

The biggest thing here is most places want the splitter installed as the 3M has to be stretched onto the piece. It isn't as simple to do as people think. Yes, they could slap some 3M on it, but we would be disatisfied because it was bubbling due to not being installed properly. Repaint, let it cure for about 8 weeks then install and have 3M put on. Don't quote me on the 8 weeks. Ask what the body shop recommends.

Let me get this right out of all the splitters that have been sold and placed on a car I'm the only person who did not place the protective tape on it?

I just feel the splitter was not properly prepped. 3M tape or not it should not have chipped and continues to chip as easy as it does.

Thank you RPIDon for your help regarding the issues I experienced with the paint on the splitter. You most certainly are going to be an asset to the company.

So... which splitter should I get? I'm torn between the SLP one and the ZL1 style one. Help!
