As Vash said - you only flush when rebuilding or changing something in the rear-end. Just switching out is all that is needed otherwise. And actually as the manual states on page 8-17:

So if you just plan on driving it and not having any fun, you don't need to change it - however if you are like almost everyone on this forum, you are going to want to see what she's got and prove it - so change the fluid

Alright guys - so I brought a copy of the rear-axle fluid page from my manual to my local chevy dealer and asked them for that fluid.

They handed me 75W-90 Mobil 1 LS same exact stuff I put in. The only difference is it cost 35.80 rather than 10.25 from advance auto. Then they handed me this little bottle of Limited Slip Additive - they said I really don't need to put it in with the Mobil 1 but I said I wanted it anyway.

So there you have it - your dealer is going to put Mobil 1 in the rear and maybe put the additive in.

Just an FYI. On my 4th gen Z28 I had the rear end diff. fluid changed. My manual also states to use the additive. However the dealer put in Royal Purple and told me the additive wasn't necessary with RP. The differential has been fine, no noise or whining.

Weird that they sold you Mobil 1 instead of the part number listed in the owner's manual.

I took the part numbers from the manual, purchased that- and got GM brand rear end fluid and I also got the additive.

That is what I was thinking....maybe in the 1300-1400 mile mark....I need to find out how much they will charge to do the rear end fluid flush and fill.....the first oil change is free though. I hope they don't mind me handing them my K&N oil filter I purchased this week for it

A rear diff fluid change is probably about $50 for labor. there is no such thing as a flush for a rear end, just a fluid change. I dont even think there is a rear cover on these as it is made by getrag. The GM fluid probably already has the additive in it and I recommend GM fluid for everything on your car, except motor oil (i run mobile). It is designed for your cars specific application. Also, some dealers dont always use gm fluids (the dealer i work for is guilty of this), so be sure to ask for it. Granted, on your Camaro, I'm sure they will, but its something to be aware of.

How about Amsoil Severe Gear 75W-140 and if you are feeling really picky, add Slip Lock Differential Additive to it as well?
