Chevrolet Door Sill sticker lifting?

I just noticed that my "Chevrolet" door sill is lifting up. What would be a good glue to put under it. Or should I just have the dealer order me a new one?

No Glue, use 3M VHB Double stick Tape.

Peel/Clean off existing glue, prep surface with alcohol, and stick this into the sill area, then put the piece back in.

Be careful when removing you do not put a kink in the metal strip. When using VHB try and get at least a 25mil tape, the thicker it is the more it allows for expansion and contraction of the two different surfaces. Ask Uline which one they recommend for automotive. I can guarantee this will hold.

It is under warranty...let the dealership fix it...isn't that what warranties are for?

Yeah, and this known issue drives me nuts. The quality of these door sill stickers is appalling. They shouldn't even be stickers! Door sill plates or nothing. Do it right or don't do it at all. This is cheap and tacky.

I know this is a known issue and some say bring it to the dealer. If it was me personally, I would have the dealer order me a new one and I would stick it on myself with the VHB and not use the factory glue under the sill.

What happens is that they use a double sided tape that is very thin. The plastic and metal expand and contract at different time and it works the tape loose. If you use a thicker (20-50mil, depending on how much height room you have), it allows for the shift in the thickness of the tape.

yep, order from the dealer and do it yourself. I've used the 3M tape on other things and holds well. I used it for my previous truck for bed rail covers.

Upgraded aftermarket pieces are the answer here, or wait for GM to redesign them...
