Not bad at all, especially the 18 MPG city.

Doesn't the Ram 1500 get 17/25 2wd and 16/23 4wd?
I would hardly call a 1mpg improvement in the city "unsurpassed". But I guess any difference even if it's as minute as 1 can be called "best in class". |

Best in class is surely a relative term. that said, i would have a hell of a hard time choosing between the GM and Dodge trucks righ now if I was in the market.

What are the HP #'s? This should be in a base Camaro next!! Love the Eco tech in my Cavalier. 240,000 and hasn't missed a beat.

OK numbers....good but not WOW good. I thought it would forsure tie the RAM 25MPG highway rating.
On that note: Ram also has the 8 speed transmission. I think the GM V6 is still paired with the 6 speed. Once they get their 8 or 10 speed transmissions paired to this, that will add another mpg or two.

Doubt we'll see this in a car. GM is reportedly working on a new family of V6 engines which we will probably see in the next Camaro at some point, but I wouldn't doubt if we see the LFX in the first model year or two of the next gen.

Its quite a bit lower in specific output (hp/L) than V6s you normally find in cars, but its right in line with the numbers we see for its bigger brother, the 5.3L V8. Besides, when it delivers nearly best in class fuel economy along with best in class towing & payload ... I don't have a problem with it. And on the other side of things, there is just something wrong when a pickup truck's engine has a redline of 7000 rpm or so (like the F150).

But the Chevy/GMC can TOW a hell of a lot more. In order for the Ram to match the GM trucks U have to buy a V8 Hemi

The Ram V6 offers up to 1524 pounds payload and 6500 towing in a short bed, not the long bed ups that too 1918 in payload, but drops towing to 6300, certainly better, but not a "hell" of a lot more. And hell, it's the truck game, give a few weeks and Ford and Dodge will each come out with new payload tow ratings for their trucks, both offer better payload than the F-150 that maxes out at 1670 and ties the Ram with 630, just thought I would throw that out there.

This^ it seems like as soon as one truck says it can do this this and that, the other two companies fire right back and do it just as good or better. I love the way GM, Ford and Dodge battle with their trucks. Its fantastic, bc in the end the winner is the consumer.
